I'm wondering if anyone has replaced a heater switch on a Kia Rio (or any other car for that matter) and is willing to offer some advice on how to remove and replace the switch.
There are a couple threads about broken heater switches on this forum, but none contain information on how to actually replace the heater switch. I started this thread in the hopes of getting instructions or advice on how to replace the switch.
I found this drawing which somewhat shows the layout of the switch itself:
The middle part seems straightforward, just two plugs to remove by depressing the tabs on the clips.
However on either side (the heat control, as well as the vent control) are attached on the back with a pull cable wire, similar to a hood pull cable. I'm not sure how to properly disconnect these two cables in order to remove the heater switch.
Initially, it seems like needle-nose pliers would be required to bend the wire back, and release the pull cable. However I don't want to attempt this if it's the incorrect way to remove it, since I don't want to damage it in any way.
I've also checked the Kia shop manual (available at kiatechinfo.com) but it doesn't seem to contain procedures on how to replace the switch.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
