Based on this website Wheel Bolt Pattern Cross Reference Database and Conversion Guide: KIA*SPORTAGE 94-02, they have the same bolt pattern. I think center bore might be the main issue, but if I recall the Sportage had a larger center bore than the Sorento. If it fits, you'll just have to figure out what tire to use. Sorentos had P245/70R16 (29.5"), Sportage P205/75R15 (27.1"). In order to keep a correct speedometer and mileage reading, you would have to go with a P265/70R15 (29.6"). Best of luck.

I did not know this. Interesting. Looks like if you go with a 1999-2003 RWD chassis Sportage rim or RWD chassis Suzuki (rebadged too as Chevy/GMC/GEO) you are fine. As all you need is

139.5mm x 5 bolt with a 95.3mm or greater center bore for plug and play fit on a RWD (BL) chassis Sorento.

The others all listed have 77.8/86.7mm center bore and will not work unless you drill them out.

Interesting, as I have both cars and I could check this, (well not this very minute as my wife has just taken the Sporty to work)
I had previously noted that the centers look the same.

As I recall Ford, Jeep, Suzuki, and Daihatsu five stud rims are also all the same centers, this I have checked, as I have a Daihatsu spare rim for my WW2 Jeep, and I once loaned a spare tyre from my Ford Bronco (1981) to a mate with a flat on a 1959 Jeep station wagon during a Simpon desert crossing many rears ago. (it fitted perfectly and got us to Birdsville)

However I must ask this why would you want to do this in any case? You could run bigger tyres that way but the 7" sportage rims would probably limit you to 10.5 R 15's.

A bigger wheel is always better on a 4x4, and here in Australia anyway, with the long term domination of the market by Nissan and Toyota, 16" off road tyres are much easier and cheaper to buy than 15's in any case in all but major towns.

Unless I missed something and useing the SITE he gave us the only rims that work are what I said stock. With 95.3mm and 108mm bore centers. Based on KIA 95.3mm requirement stock.

The others ALL have a 77.8/86.7mm center bore and like I said need to be drilled out. As per HIS info site given.

any old 139.5 circle on center x 5bolt is not a 139.5x5 rim. 77.8mm and 86.7mm and 95.3mm and 108mm center bore (for axle flange) makes a huge difference.

a 77.8mm vech can use a 86.7 or 95.3 or 108 rim. A 86.7 can use a 95.3 or 108 but not a 77.8. An 95.3 can a 108 but not 77.8 nor 86.7 (our KIAS). And a 108 can only use the 108 not the 77.8 or 86.7 or 95.3. Or you get really cozy with a drill lathe. Which is fine if that is your aim to do. ;)

No I wasn't suggesting to use the ford, Jeep etc rims, just commenting on how much interchangeability sometimes exists out there in the world.

My main question is on why you would want to bother? I can't really see the gain, Sportage rims don't look any better.

all other things being equal - i'm pretty sure that the 15s will be cheaper than the 16's (here is USA)
and he may be wanting a narrower and taller tire and maybe can get it in 15's but not in 16's
(not for sure of that statement - just saying "maybe")

(some of us - maybe many, are not using the Sorento for off-roading)

It's probably a moot point anyway, as I said I have both cars and I just looked, the centers are (or at least appear to be) the same, but I doubt the 15's will clear the disk calipers, on the Sorento, they only just clear them on the Sportage.
