How did u connect the Boss converter system?

I didn't use the Boss converter but a similar one (looks pretty much the same, just couldn't find the picture of it on google).

You attach the "regular" wires to the head unit speaker outputs.

Either on front outputs (if you're planing to amplify the front speakers) or on back outputs (if you plan to amplify the rear speakers or the subwoofer).

If you plan to amplify both front speakers and subwoofer it depends on what control you want since you can regulate the volume with Fader function (if you put the Boss converter on the front outputs and move the fader to the back than the amplifed speakers will play quieter and vica versa).

I want to keep my original speakers and only add subwoofer in trunk. What is the best way to connect amp to the headunit? I don't want to lose rear speakers.
Are there any 10A electric cabels in the trunk that dont do anything? I was thinking of putting in my old headunit an wiering the rear speaker output to this unit and from this to rear speakers and to amplifier :p. and maybe also putting my old speakers in the trunk :D

Nice tutorial, but is the installation the same for a model 2011 cee'd sw? And can you guys tell me what size the rear door speakers are on a sporty wagon. I am thinking of replacing the front speakers with the Pioneer TS-170Ci and contemplating a rear door fix also.
A complete audio rebuild is not possible because this is a company car, and I need to be able to bring the car back to original state if necessary.

regards,
Bas

What a headache , although I can understand why you have gone to all this trouble as the sound on my new Kia Ceed 2 is crap but it should not be because the sound on my previous Korean Built Chevrolet Cruze is excellent similar priced cars.

Unfortunately I find the stero sound fom my New Ceed 2 is very poor compared to my previous similar priced Korean Built Chevrolet Cruze I admire anyone who will go through the process of upgrading what a chore

Again, I find that weird, since my mk1 Ceed has a pretty nice sound.

Do you know you can tune the sound options?

Does the "hold setup for 15 seconds" thing still open up advanced menu on newer ceeds?
Makes a huge difference to the sound in my 2010 pro_

I don't mess with it for radio but always turn "Audio setting" OFF and Loudness ON, which certainly improves the low end response. Although it does make it sound rather 'different' which took me a while to get used to.

I never knew that trick, I will give that ago tomorrow :)

If there was a ignition live I could wire into in the boot to get the sub some power that would be great, if anyone knows then answers on a postcard :D

Warning, if you do that, you'll find the stereo will sound 'odd' at first.
Also, DO NOT DO THAT TRICK AT VOLUME 10 OR MORE !!!
It'll make things a LOT louder :D

You'll also find it only lasts until you hit Mute or change source.
So basically; volume to 7, choose a track you like from the USB stick, then hold that setup button!
Once you see "C209" on display, press ^ 4 times to find Audio Setting then > to turn it OFF.
Then press ^ again, turn Loudness ON.
Press Setup twice to get back to normal display.

I know that reads quite complex, but it's easy enough to do on the move :D

IF you hate the sound, just turn the car off, remove key, get out and lock up as usual.
When you get back in things will magically reset to normal :)

Dont power the sub from any ignition live, this needs to be ran from the battery and fused at the battery, ignition live will be needed for the remote connection, but this may aswell be ran from the headunit when you run phonos.

Cheers Dubster, I tried it out and didn't think the sound was too good and think the standard sound is more "wholesome"

Yeah mate, I was having a blonde moment, ofcourse the sub needs power from battery lol

Considering that I have not found any DIY articles about the audio upgrade I decided to write my own.

Since I didn't have enough time today, this is part one, which includes changing the front speakers with new wires into the doors and isolation of front doors.

Tomorrow I will hopefully have time to finish the install of the power cable, the ground cable and the cables from the front doors to the boot.

Have you done any pictures of the power cable yet

Sorry for a late reply but yes, the tutorial is here:

I'm still opened to any questions if you have any but since I owned the mk1 pro_ceed and since I'm already on my 2nd car since owning a Pro_ceed keep in mind that I may not remember everything :)

I also do not know if the new kia ceed/pro_ceed models are the same (taking it apart wise).
