My wife has a 2000 Kia Sephia with a 1.8 L DOHC engine and the timing belt broke on it. I've read on the internet that this has an interference motor and the pistons can hit the valves. What are the chances that this can happen? She was going about 25 miles per hour when it broke. Is there a way you can tell if the valves got bent or broke without pulling the heads off? If the valves did get bent would it be possible to replace them with a used set of heads from a junkyard or would the pistons be damaged too?
