I just got a 2010 Kia Optima not to long ago, and i was wondering if anyonw knows if the 2011 0r 2012 Optima Engine would fit in it. Im looking at the V6's possibly turbo?

You are better off with the 4cyl. that you have. The 2.4L MPI engine is excellent, if maintained, and moves the car quite well, and gets good mileage. The V6 only makes 19HP more, weighs more, and uses more fuel. The newer GDI 2.4L will physically bolt up, but everything else is different(electronics, fuel system, exhaust). It is not feasible, IMHO.

Installing a new motor of any description sounds like an impossible dream. Assuming the physical problems could be overcome, the electronics would be a real problem. Unless the V6 was extensively modified (is that any easier than modding the 4?), you wouldn't gain much.

If you existing engine is 2.4, they aren't usually suitable for turbo. You could investigate some of the chips that are advertised, but they sound too good to be true. A good basic tune-up could also be worth trying.

The V6 only gains you 19HP. It's not worth it, and I doubt it could be done electronically. If you could drop in the 3.3L from the Sonata, it might be worth it from a power standpoint, but for the cost and complication of everything, you'd lose less by trading in the Optima and buying a Sonata V6.

I have an EX V6, and I would highly recommend keeping the 2.4 and getting a super or turbocharger and whatever else you like. The V6 is nice... but it sounds course and seems like it's struggling for power quite often. I think it's a bit too small for the weight of that vehicle. After you get the engine moded, you can get SX parts from ebay to make it look cooler.
