I have the same problem with my 2021 Sorento X LIne SX Pestige, got the red ring of death and transmission stopped working telling to stop safely immediately, like you can do anything else, now waiting for transmission with vehicle at dealers with no delivery date in sight

Has tours or anyone else in the forum had their transmission replaced ?
Yikes. How many miles on your xline?

I had mine replaced about two weeks ago, have driven 750 miles with the new transmission. So far so good.

Yes I had mine replaced. Kia bought my vehicle back due to the fact that it fell under the lemon law in my state.

Glad it worked out for you.
It appears that I am not going to be that lucky as Pennsylvania Lemon Laws stink. My car was a month over 12 months with on ly 4013 miles and it isn't covered.
And I have been told there are no transmissions to be had. So my Vehicle sits outside the dealership while I make the payments.

I would like to know just how many other members have had this Transmission problem and how long it took them to have the problem corrected.

I was driving down the road when a big red circle came up where the Tachometer usually shows and Said " Stop Safely Immediately" Big laugh like you have a choice you lose all power.
If any other member has had this same problem with the 2021 Sorento X LIne SX Prestige please let me know. And also how long it took you to either get the transmission or Vehicle replaced.

Hello all I just wanted to follow up with my experience with the 2021 Kia sorento xline sx prestige transmission failure.

So as you all know my Sorento got the Red Circle of Death, and was towed to the Shop . I was told I needed a transmission replacement.

I immediately contacted KIA Consumer Affairs they did not respond at first , but did finally. To make this short my Vehicle was Down from 2-14-2022 to 04-01-2022. It took 48 days, fortunaltely not the Months that others have mentioned here.
I received it back Today 04-01-2022, and it appears to working fine.
While I have seen other posts that stated Kia consumer Affairs is Horrible, I have to tell you, they were all professional, totally nice and totally helpful.
It appears that one get "more Flies with Sugar and Honey, than Vinegar"> To wit I was professional and nice to them, and they were the same to me, and it appears they went out of their way to make sure my Transmission got to the Dealer and Installed.
I will continue to purchase KIA, I find them one of the best vehicles on the road for the money, I have owned 6 Kia Sorento's and this is the first time I had a problem, and I feel that KIA did the best they could with the Supply Chain Shortage.

Sign that did appear were that it stayed in Lowest gear possible for a long time before it would shift, took it to the dealer that said they couldn't replicate it.
Also every now and then it would not shift properly, and shuddered when backing out of the garage.
Then there was no warning when it went.

I have a 21 Sorrento SX and my transmission light, check engine, and error display just came on. I called the dealership and told him the error. Without hesitation he knew exactly what I was driving. It’s always had weird hesitation and skips with the engine but I didn’t really think much of it. I just thought it was the new electronics or something.
How many miles on your Sorento?

Dropped off my 2021 Sorento SX (15,000 miles, < 1 yr) on Jan 10th at the dealer. Still waiting for a transmission. This is my 3rd Kia, 2nd Sorento. Never had one issue w/ my previous Kia's.

Kia is paying for my rental car, can't complain too much they are making good on their warranty. It's just frustrating making payments on a car I don't have and can't drive.

Anyone have any idea how long these replacement transmission's are taking to arrive?

Finally picked up my car this weekend. It was exactly two months to replace the transmission.

22' Sorento SX - AWD (Canada):
Mine lags a bit from stop. Takes a bit of getting used to, especially in stop and go traffic. I think I read that you can creep a little bit as it is a wet type DCT, but not uphill. Thankfully my part of the country is not very hilly. There is a mild but noticeable shudder with spirited acceleration from a complete stop (red light). No shudder when I accelerate from a complete stop (red light) very gently. It's good to hear that all this is normal as this is my first DCT vehicle. Apart from that, this thing rips. I am amazed at how fast this car is. Absolute beast.

All the reports of transmission issues keep me on my toes but for my 21' Sorento SX Prestige, AWD there have been zero issues with transmission after one year. Shifts fast, smooth, and quiet. Knock on wood.

We have a 2021 Sorento SX also. Transmission went while we were in Florida, far from home; 11,000 miles on it. Car is currently sitting in Florida waiting for a transmission that is on back order! Had to rent a car to get home. I'm being told we can put in for trip interruption expenses and possibly our monthly lease payment. No loaner car offered. We won't know what will actually get reimbursed until we apply for it, so we're worried about renting a car while home. I'm going to check into lemon law.

Sorry to hear that.....Hopefully the 2022 ones are better.....

We finally just finished the buyback on our 2021 Sorento, transmission failed at 6000. The whole process took 6 months, vehicle sat at dealership for 3 months waiting on transmission to be replaced. Then it took another 3 months to complete the buyback, this was without an attorney, but we got 100% reimbursement. Kia has without a doubt the worst customer service of any company in any industry that i've ever dealt with. I will never do business with Kia/Hyundai again, garbage vehicles with terrible customer service.
