Timing Chain Cover oil leak?

I have had a very slow oil drip for a year now. Two non-Kia mechanics suggest it is a timing chain cover leak and it will cost nearly $2000 to repair because of a lot of removal of things to get to it. The Kia mechanic (I took in to a dealer to address shifter recall) tried tightening the oil pan. Am surprised he did not mention the timing chain cover. Does anyone know if this leak is common and the easiest way to fix it would be? Is there any way for me to steam clean the engine block front and force some silicone into the cover to block interface? It might just slow it down for awhile, but I cant afford $2000 for fixing a tiny oil leak.

I have some decent skills at auto repair and might give it a shot at re-gasketing the cover myself if I had some instruction, and there were no specialty tools to buy. Any comment on this????

Thanks,

The OPS leak is only on the V-6 Sorento. The OP does not state what engine he has.

I'm assuming it's the 2.4. If so, it's not uncommon for the oil pan to leak at the timing cover. Not a big job at all. Drop the oil pan reseal and bolt back up. Again 4CYL only...
