Ok, took just over a month to get it in. I had it installed today in about 3 hours. So far works great from the OEM Smart Key FOB and the Remote Start Remote. The directions does say once you enter the car (after the remote start) you have to press the brake and the push button start for 2 seconds or the car will die if you put it in gear. Not a fan of that part but it is what it is.

All,
I have the remote start option on my 2016 V6 Limited. It works fine but after I start it up I notice it shuts itself off. Can't tell if I'm hitting something or of its a timeout thing. It was running for maybe 2 minutes after I got my son in the back 3rd row. While trying to buckle him in it just shut off. Does it do that intentionally? I know if you step on the break without pushing the button start on the dash it will shut off. But not sure why it's doing this.
My dealer told me that that auto-shutoff is a safety feature. He said that, if the car has been started remotely, it will shut off once a door is opened. This is to prevent theft of the car. I should think that if you have your key fob with you, the car would recognize it and not shut off; but I just bought my '16 Sorento, so I haven't tested this feature yet. Hope this helps.

I have the same dealer installed remote start. mine does the same thing. u have to get in the drivers seat, press the brake and push the button to let the car know that u have entered the vehicle. if u enter from any other door without doing these steps the vehicle will shut off. There is also a time out after 10 mins.

Good to know and a minor inconvenience IMHO. Some systems shut the car down as soon as you open the door. That's a PITA.

My New Sorento SXL has the remote start from the factory.....works great.....just takes a little while to get use to using it.......

I have the 2016 Sorento and I purchased the kia one button remote starter and it sucks. I cannot start the vehicle from inside the house. The reason I purchased the remote so I could start the vehicle in the winter from inside the house. Signal isn't strong enough.

I just bought a 2016 EX and worked a remote start into the deal. I didn't want to bring it to an outside shop with the car having push-start and everything else. I was told that aftermarket starters were much better than the OEM remote start because they have a longer range. I guess the OEM remote start only works up to 500ft or so away from the vehicle.

Also forgot to add, the only bad thing about my remote start is that once you open any door (driver's door included) the vehicle shuts off. The tech told me this is so nobody could jump in the vehicle and drive away with it. It's aggravating to have the car started, open the door with the key in my pocket, car shuts off, then I immediately turn it back on with the push start. I wish they would have wired it so that I could enter the car and it would remain running as others stated.

I had the KIA accessory 2 way remote installed last week. I'm okay with the 500' range.
Not having to splice into the wiring harness and the car not shutting off when opening the door were the main reasons.
Everything involves a compromise or two it seems.

Unless the EX is different than the SXL regarding the remote start, I believe your tech guy didn't program it correctly. I also worked the remote start into my deal. Works great. The car should NOT shut off when you open the car door. You may have read hear that others also comment the car stays running after you open the door...but only for a couple minutes. If you open a car door to load kids in etc and it takes more than a 2 minutes, the car will shut off.

Hope you get it worked out.

I have just completed the installation of interior floor and outside puddle lights and I'm looking to install one of these remote starters, would they work on on an Australian model? I don't believe it is an option for us down under. Does anyone have the installation instructions for me to get an idea of whats involved with the installation? thanks.

I hope no one objects to jumping into this thread, looking into adding a remote start to the Sorento.
Our model is a 2016 Sorento EX w/ the premium option only, push button start.

- Is the factory Kia K155 model a 2-way remote start?
- Description states 'no splicing necessary' - Has anyone done a DIY install? Relatively straight forward to install?

I can get a Clifford 4115X installed from Car Toys right now for $220 - this is a basic one-way system; the one button remote is fine, don't care about having the lock/unlock buttons as we'll need to have the factory remote fob anyway but not sure how big of a deal it is to not have the verification that the car started that comes w/ a 2-way system.
Primary use by my wife will be at the house where we can easily verify it's running; other times will be at the office where it's a little further away but not that much harder to verify.

The instructions make it look straight forward. plug-n-play. I don't see any wire cutting, just unhooking harnesses and replugging.

We wanted to go Kia brand, but I'm not sure it matters if you trust your installer. Ours is also the EX Premium, push-button start. I think C6F57-AC000 (Yes, for Push Start).

I have the Kia romote start installed in my 16 Sorento SX V6. It works as intended but a few things really disappointed me.

Only 1 of the 2 remotes that come with the starter is a 2 way, kinda cheapo I think.

I'm in Toronto, our winters can get really cold(-20°C). The remote starts the vehicle up no problem, the range is great. But after 10 mins of engine run time with the remote start the engine shuts off!! Kinda defeats the purpose of a remote start considering the engine temperature only increases about 1 notch in the instrument panel. And that's with 2-5°C ambiant temps. We haven't hit the dead of winter yet. I don't believe my truck will warm up enough in 10 mins.

The seat/steering heater does not come on when remote started, even if its left on when the vehicle was shut off.

And the 2 way remote only warns me when the trucks been started. It doesn't tell me it was shut off.

As far as I know these issues are controlled by the control modules programing and can't be adjusted. But please if there is a way I really like to know!!

Yes, just bought a 2016 Sedona SXL with Tech pkg. and the remote start came installed, it is a small FOB about one inch square.
came attached to the regular FOB
