I have been back twice, right rear shock replaced same noise :( another appointment this Friday, if you sit in the back seat noise seems directly underneath, dealer has been great but can’t seem to find a fix, very disappointing, have a 21 and my daughter has a 23, all 4 wheels sound same when hitting a bump, something changed with parts used in the 25
Please keep us updated, still trying to figure out where it’s coming from. I checked for play in the right end link, but seems solid enough.

Hello Kia family!
Any news?
Not sure if i asked before, but have any of you gotten a 3rd party opinion? I may run a 3rd party diagnosis just to find out what's the real issue. I will make sure they understand, of course, that my intention is pay them for the diagnosis but that I would have Kia address the issue, therefore avoiding any warranty problems... good or bad idea?

Bpaps, Not yet, after I come back from a trip I’ll have to take it in for a software glitch with the dash control panel, it goes too dim a night compared to the gauge panel lol. Always something. Anyway, if you do take it to a 3rd party, take to a specialist, and make sure they leave no evidence (new part or something), and if they do find anything, only suggest to Kia what you think it might be based on a “friend’s” advice.

Mine was very dim at first, I manually adjusted it but it doesn't get that much brighter.

Yeah it’s like the control panel setting is dimmer than the rest, gonna try a reset later. I think it’s a software issue. When you cover the sensor on the dash, it goes to night mode and all displays dim as they should, but the control panel almost disappears. Uncover the sensor and it comes back on.

Interesting. Can you share where is that sensor located?
BTW, have you noticed that metal cover over the muffler? I feel like that's a bit loose, unless is required wiggle room... not sure if that has to do with the suspension clunking sound/noise but I can tell you is getting worse.

The ambient light sensor on mine is that round bump/cap in the middle of the center speaker grill on top of the dashboard. All cars have them on the dash somewhere facing up towards the windshield.

Hard to find my replies as they get deleted, anyways, went to dealership today, they inspected everything, rode with me, said this is a trim sound and nothing abnormal about it. I went through lots of bumps, highlighting the clear dull knocking after shock sound/feel in the right rear side. They said yes that's sound totally normal for this car. Not sure honestly.

On other note (posted this in another post that got deleted too), they will order/ replace my inner door panel driver side due to some screw that is protruding in the storage and bending the plastic.

Had the car for a month now and its pretty nice except for those two issues. Hopefully enough evidence show up that somehow something is wobbly in this area.

May be with the winter tires season coming soon, something would change. Will keep you posted if something changes.

What trim is your Sorento? Mine is SX Prestige. Or by trim do they mean the actual Sorento model?
There's no way this is normal... why would it be?

He meant the rubbers, insulations, panels etc not a mechanical noise.

The trims in Canada are slightly different, but its essentially the top trim after the pro.

This sound in similar to when you have a broken engine mount but it is in the back.

I respect they admiting the design has its flaws but im not buying their excuse. If this was the case you'd hear the clunking noise in both side and just the right side.

Yes, have a feeling that what they’ll eventually say, will keep everyone posted if they find something.

I agree, this cant be a normal thing. Its not a wind noise or some cheap insulation sound. This definitely something that need to be fix, time will tell what it will turn out to be. I am inclined to say that they already know what it is, but it takes time to admit things and change it.

I agree, I just hope it’s not an immediate safety issue.

3rd time in to dealer and nothing, they have started a file with KIA engineering, as a side note, put my winter tires on this weekend, so went form 20 rims to 17 with the taller snows, absolutely no difference in the rear suspension noise !

Thanks for the update, this is so frustrating. Sounds like something is bouncing right under the floor on that side. I keep thinking it's the exhaust pipe, but it's solid. Gonna send the link of this thread to Kia Support under my case number and set up another appointment.

Is it a case at the dealership level or corporate?
My concern is these franchises don't necessarily report everything back to corporate, which at the end of the day are the ones that pull the trigger to resolve large scale issues like ours.
I've been trying to get in touch with corporate, I'm yet to talk to anyone. My business hours are the same as theirs so that is a challenge.
I'll try them today since I'm off work.

I sent an email to Kia-Customer-Care@kiausa.com, which is basically a “contact us” on Kia’s website. Provide your vehicle’s make, year and VIN, and your concerns. They will provide a case number. But they really can’t help you with solutions, since they rely on feedback from the service centers, and are more concerned with safety issues, of which I’ve been trying to explain to them this noise could be a precursor to suspension failure, hence a safety issue. No word yet from them, I think they’re aware of the issue, but who knows lol
