Hello everyone, new to the forum, hope I can find an answer.
Recently purchased a new 2025 Sorento, S trim, and very happy with the car. But there is an annoying sound coming from the rear suspension from the passenger side. The noise is best described as a “flumping” or soft clunking from under the car near the right rear suspension, under the rear seat, when the car travels over bumps in the road during city driving. Almost sounds like something is softly bouncing up and down against the bottom of the car. I did a visual inspection under the car and did not see anything out of the ordinary, also checked the rear seat mounts, removed the spare tire jack, rear lift gate is solid, etc. The exhaust mounts are intact and solid, and is not interfering with suspension or floor board. I suspect a bad shock or insulator, as it seems to happen when the rear wheel returns from upward travel.
I brought it back to Kia’s service center here in Cleveland, OH and had a service advisor take a ride, and she acknowledged that it was making noise. She also discovered that the tires were overinflated to 50 psi from the factory. Apparently the car wasn’t pre-checked and inspected before the sale (it only had 4 miles on it) They kept it overnight and I assumed they were working on it, but in reality I think they simply deflated the tires and forgot to tell me pick it up. The service advisor told me they looked at it and didn’t hear anything during a road test (probably thru the parking lot, lol).
Anyway, the noise is still there, perhaps not quite as loud before. I plan to bring it back after a trip to get it checked again. Is there anyone out there that has had similar problems with a new or recent year Sorento? Any clues would be greatly appreciated, and thank you.
