Great news everyone!
I'd like to give credit to my advisor but I'm not sure if sharing his name would be appropriate.
Anyway, look for yourself!

Update. He's ok with the exposure.

Thanks for this post... After 6 months of BS from Raceway Kia in Freehold,,, I called Taylor and I am bringing the Sorento in on Wednesday to Bridgewater... Again,,, Thanks for your post...

I'm not looking to derail the topic but why wouldn't you buy that brand/model? My wife is looking for a new vehicle and that's her favorite, followed by Audi (which I don't like). Feel free to PM in case this message gets deleted
Read almost any of the Jeep/Ram/Chrysler forums. They are known for lots of issues, and it has been that way for decades.

As I wrote before I also had my shock replaced a year ago (I had to pay for it as the car was older than 2 years) and the noise got better but after some time it came back to the same level. After that they have replaced 3 parts on the top part of the shock where it connects to the chassis. Noise is still there. As next step all the interior of the trunk was removed and checked for loose parts but no improvement.
I have a feeiling that it is worse in hot weather and better in wet conditions. I assume it is some lubrication of some parts. I was suspecting the stabilizer joints. The metal holder with a rubber inside but I am not sure. It would be good to grease all the related parts one by one and make a test drive after each step to find outy where the noise is coming from.
KIA should have done it themselves but for me they told me that they cannot do any further actions, they are out of ideas.
Dear Micro521,
I have similar problems with my car too and I'd like to clarify the type of sound what we talking about.
I reported my issues to the dealership several times but nobody took care about it IMO.
The sound getting worse, especially when I drive longer distances.
Is there any option to talk with you via phone?
Cheers/Üdv
Robert

Many of us suffered for months and worked tirelessly to find a resolution. It's been about a month since mine were replaced and i am extremely satisfied with the outcome.
Its a totally different car now ! I look back and think how we thought that this might be normal ..

When? Many in this group had their shocks replaced before, but it was before the newsletter, this is fresh off the press!
It seems like is a new improved part.
If anyone out there has had their shocks replaced under the TSB and the thumping noise went away but returned PLEASE post that info to this thread.

Just got mine back from the dealership with the new shocks relating to the TSB. Dealership test drove it prior to returning it to me, and one of the shocks immediately blew on that test drive. Dealership ordered another shock and all is good. Luckily it happened on their test drive prior to releasing it to me.

Kia Customer Care has offered $1200 in "Goodwill" compensation for defective shocks. Not sure if we can counteroffer.
Got the same here. But you really have to read the agreement they send you. I told the Kia rep I was not happy with some of the terms including a NDA. He told me to line out what I didn't like and send it to him.
One other thing if you accept their offer then you can't come back and complain about the issue again. One thing I am go to ask for is an extended warranty on the shocks. Who knows, in six months we may be right where we started.
Got till 5/22/25 to sign so we will see.
A lawyer told me once that the person that writes the contract is the one the contract favors.

To everyone? How did you hear of this?
When this whole issue with the thumping noise stated my dealer required that I have my aftermarket trailer hitch removed to confirm that it was not the problem. Since it was not i was told I could have the hitch reinstalled. The R&R cost me $220.00 and I requested a reimbursement. They asked for a copy of my original purchase order for the car plus any work orders. I have a 3ring binder with EVERYTHING concerning my car in it. That's when they made their offer to me.

Take the money and run I would and if more shock trouble do some measurements and adapt your own set of shocks to fit. I have put different shocks on cars with all measurements and length of shock travel
Unfortunately at 77 my days of crawling under cars it far gone. 😕

I wrote you a PM.

I also received that offer but part of the agreement is a NDA which would prohibit you from talking about the settlement or posting anything negative about Kia.
Since my car had been off the road for over 30 days I opted to file a lemon law complaint. My attorney said they agreed right away. They are buying my car back minus $205.00 for my usage. I have over 10k miles on the car but I first reported the problem at 500 miles.
If you or anyone else wants the name of the law firm representing me send me a PM. They are a nation wide firm that specializes in lemon law complaints.

Finally got the parts in and changed the rear bolt and shock system.
All I can say is what a night and day difference!
It took a while for dealer to get these but at least we have them now (in Ontario).
I was close to selling the Sorento if they were not going to come in before winter.

That’s great news! Glad to hear your problem is resolved finally, quite surprised it took that long to get the parts.

Wow, it did take them a while. I'm happy you can finally enjoy your ride. Not sure about you but I can say that since my issue was resolved I've been in love with the car, and when my lease is up, Kia again will have the upper hand in terms of option.

Yes, happy with it now as well.
