LMAO I responded on my phone while pumping gas this morning... Accidently posted with no actual response. I SWEAR I editing it and made an actual post. I see that didn't happen and only checked again because I got a reaction alert.

I am not clever enough to have quoted a post that said don't quote me on this and then done a mic drop. Hilarious but completely unintentional. Leaving it for posterity.
I absolutely set myself up on that one 😂 but you absolutely nailed the reply. Flawless

What I tried to post is....

They should just drop the navigation. Doesn't everyone just use their phones? I never use the navigation on my wife's car we only use Google maps (Apple maps programmers were on LSD I don't trust it. As much as Apple gets right that map app is horrible)

I equate that Kia/Hyundai are doing to "We are having issues with the CD player that no one uses anymore so lets put in a radio with a cassette deck instead until we figure it out"

Would anyone care if their was no on board navigation if your phone connected wirelessly instead?
I've had no issues in a very long time with Apple Maps. I'm guessing you probably haven't tried it since it launched several years ago. It's been extremely solid for quite a while.

As for built-in nav, it's a bonus for those who live in or travel to areas with poor cell service. I actually did need it right after I bought the Sportage, and glad I remembered it had actual nav, as it would've taken a little bit to figure out how to get on the right road - no cell service. I live in central PA - lots of mountains.

Google Maps allows you to choose maps to download and use it offline.

I admit it has been a while but 2 years ish maybe 3? When the big kerfluffle about Apple maps was going on I had no issues with it in Wichita Ks. However I went to visit a friend in KC and, had I followed the Apple app, Going up i35 through Olathe it had me getting off at every exit and then getting right back on as though the bridge over every main street was out and you couldn't go over them. It was a nightmare... however easy to see what it was doing and ignore. I kinda quit using it then.

To this day, it still tries to change my home address. I live in a suburb on SE side of town on cul-de-sac, Lets say 123 Robin Ct. it tries to route me to 123 Robin St. in a suburb on the NW side of town some times when I am near there. (I like using GPS to watch miles and eta time go down as I drive) but works fine for pizza delivery drivers in my area.

I got the fake carbon ones from ali express and they look nice but because there is a slight curve to the original equipment, there is one corner that does not stick on. I don't want to remove them to reinstall with some better tape and make things worse so i am living with it.

Try a Hair Dryer (or heat gun) to heat it up and see if you can form it a tad?

Was anybody able to find the center console cover for a "regular" gear shift model? Seems only dial-shift overlays are available :( Got X-line AWD here and just ordered door handle "wooden" panels from amazon, but can't find anything for center console.

It'll be very difficult. the 2.5L engine I think is exclusive for the North American market and they're the only ones with the "normal" gear shifter. Since pretty much all of the overlays are made in China, they only manufacture the dial shifter versions.

Since you are very active in this forum and know you stuff (big props to you!!!), I was also wondering if you ever come across a leather cover for the gear shifter? 2023 Sportage uses the same t-shaped handle as K5, and I noticed in K5 forums people usually replace it with another gear shifter, something sportier. I was just looking for something to use over that shifter, tried some universal leather covers, but all are too big. Not sure if you came across something that could fit it?

I just compared the two vehicles and they are exactly the same part. I think even the base that connects the shifter boot to the gear indicator are the same. If the K5 forum has something that the members are using, they should all be fully compatible with the Sportage. I haven't searched for something like that personally though, sorry

If anyone is looking to buy the woodgrain version of the covers, I'm selling a set. They've never been used. I was just overzealous on ordering these before the vehicle arrived and now decided to get a different car instead.

I have
Window Switch Covers - wood grain
Gear Shift Panel Cover - wood grain
Tempered Glass Screen Protector (right half only)
Center Armrest Storage Box Organizer

I will sell everything for $40 shipped from Texas. That's about half off and you don't have to wait for shipping from China!
Sold to gmhl10!

They are now available on AliExpress for the US Model. I should have mine in a few days. Problem is I have the X-Line and only Carbon Fiber was available. Going to see how it looks because I can't stand just the piano black.

Currently only see Carbon Fiber

I thought fingerprints on the piano black and screen would bug the crap out of me. I keep a small microfiber cloth in the armrest, for when I see a bunch of fingerprints. 5 seconds with the cloth, and its as good as new. Much less expensive then an overlay. Works for me.
