Next time you walk up and it does not illuminate, can you just try to open the door? Don't touch the Fob or the door button.

 

Doors are locked. When I push the door button I can hear the 'clicks' as if they are trying to lock. Second push lights flash and door opens.

 

This would be a worthy of a quick trip to your dealer.

Sounds like the smart key control module is toast. You need to see the dealer for a proper diagnosis.

 

If you have another FOB try to use that one. Going to the Dealer will do same thing. If they have issue same as yours they can fix it right away but If they don't you'll end up leaving your car there. I experience that before when I lock or unlocked my vehicle with cellphone and FOB(key) in one pocket. Interference as they say! Good luck Buddy!

 

Get the dealer to check out the locks physically and the programming in the car and computer etc.

I had an issue with mine when it was only about 5-6 months old, the drivers door lock sometimes would not lock after the button was pushed on the key fob (or the door handle button) and the little electronic 'beep' sound wasn't going off any longer, and I also had the issue with the door handle lights not coming on when I approached the vehicle. It turns out that the drivers side door lock actuator was faulty, and they replaced it free under warranty. I guess the doors were locked, but the physical door lock mechanism wasn't triggering the alarm and computer properly, so the vehicle was locked physically, but the alarm and computer sensed that physically the drivers side door wasn't actually 100% 'locked' so the lights in the handle didn't come on because the system wasn't technically 'locked'. Same issue with the doors sounding like they locked, then unlocked when they were already locked in the first place (or so I thought).

One little part of the system whether electronic or mechanical can throw a monkey wrench into the works, and make other things not work properly as well. Might as well get it fixed while warranty still covers it.

Took it to the dealer yesterday and they hooked it up to their computer. The tech showed me on the laptop screen how one of the doors wasn't responding, even though the physical lock was. In my case it was driver side rear door. New actuator assembly ordered, going back in next Friday for install.
