Hello Folks,

First check engine light trouble in 63k miles for my 08 Rondo V6.

The code thrown is a 0441 Purge Valve related trouble.

Can someone with a V6 and who knows where the Prurge Valve is mounted, could you please post a pic or describe where it is.

I have read that it is on the firewall, some posts say its on the engine.

I do not see any vacuum switch that looks like the replacement part picture, not yet anyways.

I checked the KIA site and I only spotted a block diagram with indicates its NOT back by the tank so it must for sure be under the hood.

I have attached a pic with a red oval in the center showing what 'may' be the purge valve but I dont think so.

If ya got a few minutes to spare and know where this valve is, I could sure use and appreciate the assist.

Thanks
Tony

Thanks for confirming that its back behind the TB and in front of the firewall.

I will check it out as soon as possible.

Has anyone been able to service the purge valve? Not too much can be done if the winding went open, however maybe if there is some dirt or something going on could it be successfully cleaned?

My check engine light comes on after approx 200 mile intervals.

I appreciate the reply.

SpongeBob,

You were right on with the valve location. I thought I would take it out this evening and pick up the new part in the morning with other car. Things didnt work out as I planned. I could get the lower hose clamp lowered off the valve and the hose removed but the upper clamp is going to take some doing. I am good working with a mirror and I could also feel it really good from the top and bottom but I couldnt get a reliable grip on the clamp tangs to muscle it off the valve. Actually I was trying to remove the clamp and hose from the engine which seemed easier than trying to slip it off the valve.

It was dark, I couldnt quite see reliably how the valve is mounted to the cushiony mounting bracket so that I could remove it had I gotten the hose clamp off the other end of the valve.

Perhaps you can share your experience in the replacement process.

Thanks again for letting me know exactly where the valve is.

Tony
