Confirmed. On the hybrid at least. I just popped the hood for the first time in a while, to really visually inspect everything. There's a good amount of room for accessing hoses, but otherwise it looks like this car might suck real bad to work on. Not to mention the whole hybrid component of everything.
Please share some pics.

My grill guard material comes in tomorrow. I will hopefully have pictures this weekend
I am most interested in how you are fixing it in place, and what needs to come off to get it done. In my quick glance yesterday it looks like over top might be the easiest, with a plastic cover (held in with those AWFUL plastic clips) needing to come off.

So I've cut the guard material but cannot for the life of me figure how I'm going to attach them. Kia really made this difficult
Did you order from the link I sent? I'm not affiliated or anything but wanted to do this as well. Was two enough?

Sorry, but I just have to ask the obvious question. Have you talked to a radiator repair shop to see if they can do anything?

They're not going to have anything but they're going to also run into the same issue which is the way that KIA designed the front fascia. You simply can't get to certain parts of it because there's no opening

Bought a Sorento EX a month ago. Feels good, drive it around, until last Saturday. A stone flew through the lower grill of the front bumper and hit the radiator. I didn't hear any sound, nothing wrong from the dashboard, no high temperature. However, I saw pink fluid around the front bumper and identified the coolant leak and a dent on the radiator. Also, the coolant level was dropping.

The EX got towed to the dealership (couldn't risk driving, it may cause engine overheat). They said it will cost ~$1,000 and would not be covered by the warranty. The worst thing is that there are no parts for this new-new model, and the service advisor told me there was no estimated time to order the new radiator. Who knows how long should I wait for that?

The space of the front lower grill is 'massive'. I also found other smaller dents and dead insects. So I believe Kia made a bad design to protect the radiator.

So here is my warm advice. Please look at your radiator and find out if your radiator got hit already and install a radiator guard to prevent similar trouble like mine. View attachment 120257 View attachment 120258
Why don’t you find a radiator repair local radiator repair shop and have yours fixed? Have Kia pull it out and you drop of the radiator and have it fixed. Once done have Kia put it back in. It will be faster and they more then likely can repair yours.

Hi,

Same issue here , 2021 Sorento Xline something hit the radiator , coolant leaked and $1000 bill for replacement with no parts in sight. I asked if they could just take radiator to get plugged until they can get the parts but the dealership will not move on that idea. In the meantime we wait. 3 weeks so far. They say part will be here Sept 1st. Good luck.

Do they give you a replacement car in the meantime?

No they did not . Just spoke with parts manager he indicated that Kia may have underestimated failure rates and not produced enough parts for the Sorento 21. But no love from my dealership at all. I think that this design issue will or is going to surface eventually. I wish I could know more cases so I can make a case for them to repair this.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. The Kia dealer near me did the same when I asked them to plug or patch the leak. I guess they just don't want to take the risk if the engine gets overheated and blown. It's good to know the part finally has an estimated time. BTW, is your $1000 bill covered by the warranty?

Nope , the dealership is not going to help at all. Was there today took pics of the radiator. I am astounded that Sorentos don’t have more issues like this. I tried to get emails for the GM and service manager but was told they could not be given . I’m done with Kia. As soon as I can get this fixed I’m off to Toyota to trade in. I have 10k miles on this car.

That's like getting a flat tire and swearing off the tire company

Disregard the wire color, that's all I had available at the moment. With black wire this will look better. There are a couple of small gaps but nothing that a rock will get through. If you wanted to measure the dimensions out perfectly and then get a machine to cut the mesh, it might be slightly better fitting. But for an initial workaround that we are looking for, here it is. Thoughts?
