I just started having the same clock issue. The display is showing just horizontal lines and the setup only shows the GPS selection as not grayed out. I'll have to check the location of the head and fuse or I'll just pull the battery terminal to reset.

Not sure if there is a specific amount of ti.e to have power off to get a proper reset? Chime in if anyone knows.

GPS has lost the time

We noticed yesterday that the full-screen map display in our 2017 Sorento SXL wasn't showing the time. Switching to the home screen, the time shows as '--:--'. In Setup->Clock, GPS Time is turned on; all the other controls are greyed-out. Turning GPS Time off and on doesn't change anything, and...

Glad to see this post. Was thinking my GPS was messed up. Same exact thing as others here. I am going to sit tight and see if it resolves on it's on. Sounds more widespread than just Sportage owners.

 

Same thing happened to me, yesterday clock and date changed to year 2036, and today can't modify clock, it's all greyed.

So I've had this issue with the dashes for several months. It always cleared itself up within a minute or so until yesterday. Now its a solid failure. Pics show what I see and I suspect what others do too. Guess its the Y2K bug finally biting us in the arse..... Dealer trip tomorrow to see if they have heard of it or feign ignorance...

 

Our Sportage did this same thing yesterday. Near the power/volume button on the dash is a little hole with a reset button in it. Hit it (used a paper clip folded out) and the UVO and GPS reset and it fixed the issue. Still working today. On a positive note - none of the settings of the radio (channels/audio/cell phones pairings) were lost. Easy 5 second fix.

 

Here I was thinking that hole was the 'microphone' for the hands free !! Feel prety stupid now :-(

 

BTW -My Forte Koup didn't do this. It has XM radio, but no GPS. Probably just happening on Navigation equipped cars.

 

Will I Am........I used the paper clip to reset and it worked for me. Took me about 3-4 times before it worked but it did eventually. Like you said.....kept all presets etc.

 

Took a ballpoint pen and did the reset this morning. Worked perfectly.

 

2017 Sportage SX same thing happened to me. Must've been a bad GPS time push. I ended up setting it manually once because the android auto wasn't working since time was out of sync. Worked for a day. Then I got the blank lines and nothing was working. Couldn't set manual only toggle GPS which did nothing. I used a pen and the reset button above the power / FM button. Had to do 2 resets. Worked fine after. No presets lost. Thanks guys!

SSportage....you said the dealer said to do nothing...to your knowledge is it something that will correct itself or do I need to reset or pull and reinsert the fuse? We stared with the same issue today and with the Harman Kardon premium audio, we have over 300 songs in the 'my music' portion and I would hope not to have to reload all of them. Any thoughts...and thank you!

 

You don't need to pull the fuse or disconnect the battery, pull the fuse cover off the inside of the vehicle and there is a blue power switch. Flip it off, wait for 60 seconds then flip it back on. That blue switch is for transportation mode which shuts power off to a lot of the accessories in the vehicle. Otherwise make sure the vehicle has a good view of the sky and press the UVO reset button with a paperclip or a ballpoint pen for 60 seconds with the vehicle running and that should solve the problem for now. Kia knows about this issue and will be releasing a service bulletin shortly. There was a problem with the flash through the GPS or the satellite radio. This has affected not only Kia but other manufacturers as well. Doing a reset or a power down for 60 seconds will correct the issue but will it be permanent, probably not! Whatever is happening we just have to wait so the head unit receives the proper updates.

I've tried using the pinhole reset thing, pulled the multimedia fuse for over a hour and also pulled and reinserted the Nav SD card. Clock is still dead even though everything else seems to work fine (Haven't tried USB connection to my phone since I never use that). I have a appointment with my dealer for this on Friday, we'll see what happens then. Hope it's a warranty issue.

How about elaborating a little more on how the dealer fixed it?

They said it was an update and didn't even write up a ticket on it. Cup of coffee and a snack and I was out of there in 20 minutes. No ticket = No charge and they always wash my SX if I ask them to.

 

I called my dealer today and they told me a $50 charge to the diagnostic check on my 17 Sportage EX. I asked why since it's under warranty and she said that they don't know what the issue is or the fix so it's not under warranty until they can determine what is causing it. Sounds real fishy to me.

 

Performing a hard reboot of the multimedia system by removing the 10A "Multimedia fuse" in the fuse nest by the steering column, then replacing it after about 30 minutes did the trick. (No need disconnect the 12v battery, only the 10A "Multimedia fuse".) This fixed my issue.

 

I've tried everything suggested in multiple forum threads about this issue. I've pulled the multimedia fuse (15 amp on mine) for over a hour, I've pressed the reset button and held it there multiple times, for as long as 60 seconds, I've pulled the Nav SD card out and back in, I rubbed my lucky rabbits foot, I failed at finding a 4 leaf clover though (maybe that's the problem?) I've stood on my head trying to spit nickels out of my..... er, uh, never mind! and still, no clock displays and all the clock settings are still greyed out.
Hopefully the dealer can fix the thing on Friday.

I really didn't ask. I figure that's what the warranty is for and I didn't want to pull a fuse, etc.
and disrupt an update.

 

Pulling the multimedia fuse over night worked for me

 

Hi everyone.
Well, I went for my appointment at my Kia dealer today and they do have a Kia Bulletin out on how to fix the clock issue, there's 4 things they try (disconnecting the battery, the reset on the deck, pulling the fuse for 15 minutes and something else I can't remember)...... in my case, nothing helped, still no clock and clock setting screen is still greyed out. So the service manager was totally stumped since this is the first case where the above didn't fix the problem, so he took some pictures of what my Harmon Kardon system was doing or wasn't doing and said he would forward the information to Kia and see if they come up with a fix for my problem. He also said this problem is not limited to Kia vehicles, some Mazda's, Ford's and so on are having the same issue. So it's something that has to do with vehicles with a certain kind of Nav system. I just hope they find a fix for it.
Also, he said the bulletin says this happened on the 17th August, for me, the clock went nutzoids on the 16th, so this may be a totally different bug shrug.

Correction to my previous post.
The problem did start on August the 17th on mine as long as you go by "eastern time zone" I noticed the clock acting weird (wrong time, wrong date was set in Feb 2036, I manually put it to the right time and date) and this was when I was getting ready to go pick up my wife at work which would have been Friday night Aug 16th at 10:30pm mountain time which is Saturday morning Aug 17th at 12:30am eastern time. Which would make it the same date as everyone else regarding this clock problem. Unfortunately, mine hasn't been fixed by all know means by me or the dealer.
