I got up this morning and found a pool of, what i think is tranny fluid on the drive. I found out where it is coming from and what caused it but I do not know the name of the part. Can someone please help me out?
As i hope you can see,in the first photo, the part? has been rubbing for a long time and eventually warn a tiny hole .

it got cold enough last winter here in SO california to reconnect my Samurai's heater that had been bypassed for 5 years.

I don't know if the sportage has any sensors in line with the heater core that would foul things up with a bipass. I know of someone that had a serious overheat issue with their mini-van because of a temp sensor on the heater core getting a faulty reading. I havn't heard of any issues with sportage owners bypassing the heater, but you should check a schematic before you do it.
