Hey everyone. This is my first ever post on here, and I felt it is some valuable information for those who ever experience this issue themselves in the future. Here's my future:
Bought my 2012 Kia Forte Koup a week ago...
Half an hour after leaving the lot the red airbag warning light came on on the dash. Phoned and was told just to have the "SRS light cleared". Took it to a local mechanic, told the fault code was B1322 - Weight Classification System ECU Defect. Researched this and narrowed it down that this code means the fault is coming from the front passenger seat (the sensors/contraptions in the seat).
I had the light cleared, it stayed off until I was 5 minutes from home. Light came back on.... Researched some more and freaked out as some people said that they had to replace the bottom half of the seat, seat rails, and a number of other expensive things.
Took it to Kia yesterday, had them diagnose further. Computer scanner told them that the wiring from the seat were the issue. They re-calibrated the seat weight sensors, drove it around and the light came back on. They diagnosed further, the problem apparently stemmed from the wiring harness connections. They removed the seat, un-clipped all under seat connections, cleaned them, and re-installed. They then re-calibrated the weight sensors, and the car has now been driven for a few hours and the light isn't coming back on so far.
So, for all of you out there who ever experience this light, warning code, etc, don't freak out. It's hopefully something simple like this! Thought I would share, as I wish some of the other forums I read online had actually had the solution posted, as most of the time the person fixes the issue and never returns to tell everyone how! Good luck guys!
