well my Sportage is an 07 and 5 speed mine only has 3000 miles or so. But I do have a problem often going from 1st to 2nd. It just doesn't go in. I ask at dealer whether there is a clutch adjustment accessible in engine compartment (like my Honda) and he said he thinks that is just the way it is and there is no adjusting. I can't imagine there is no adjusting, how does it compensate for cable stretching and clutch lining wearing, etc?

Then again, I am not too technical with cars and maybe it wouldn't help either of us  Perhaps when they break in will get better.

I have a 2006 5 speed with 10,00km on it. I've never had a problem going from 1st to 2nd although it is sometimes difficult to gear down into 1st. I also notice that the accelerater sticks slightly causing me to rev a bit when I push in the clutch.

Out of curiosity, are you parking on an incline? Is it only a problem the first time you change gears each morning? Engaging the parking brake before you leave the car in first (or revers) for the night might help.

Blue, not sure if you are speaking to me or OP or both, and don't mean to hijack's another thread. Pardon. FYI, I park in level garage, in gear with parking brake on from habit.

It has been a problem since I have had it, mostly when car is not warmed up or when it is cold (which is the whole time I have had my poor Sporty, very cold bad winter and still going).

I am consequently driving a little differently with this one, as I can't trust whether I can get it into second in a pinch (merging, etc). I have had to go back to first a few times and don't bother try going from first to third as their is no power and it wouldn't do for merging/pulling into highway traffic. It is just PITA when it hasn't warmed up mostly. But I have to be careful.

My Sporty is a little quirky but I love him, flaws and all. Would be nice if they find this something they can "fix" though.
