I'm planning to buy a newer car, I have narrowed down my choises to 3 options:

1) used 2012 Optima 1,7L diesel M/T fully loaded with 60 000km
2) used 2014 Optima 1,7L diesel A/T basically w/o any extras with 24 000km, was a dealer's test-drive vehicle
3) new 2015 Ceed SW 1,6L gasoline A/T with quite a lot of extras with 0km

These all cost around 17 500 EUR. All cars have 7 year factory warranty from date of first sale.
Are there any known issues with Optima's 1,7L engine and M/T or A/T I should know about and prefer new Ceed instead? If there's none then I'll get Optima for sure.
Before buying an used car I will let KIA's dealer check the car.

Thanks for a 'quick' reply :).
I've risen the price limit to 20 000 EUR now and taken quite a lot of test-drives with different makes and models - sorry KIA but I'll get something else instead this time. Skoda Superb or Octavia or VW Jetta or even a brand new Passat can be bought with 20 000 EUR with a spring discount at the moment. KIA's main disadvantage is weak engines compared to competitors, I mean acceleration/MPG ratio. One interesting car i will test soon is Alfa Romeo Giulietta:
Alfa Romeo Giulietta M-Air Distinctive 1.4 Turbo 125kW - auto24.ee
On paper its 1.4 125kW turbo engine (with A/T) looks just fantastic: 0-100km/h in 7,7 seconds, average fuel consumption 5,2 L/100km.

I don't think that those Skoda, VW, Alfa cars will be as equipped as the Optima. Electric chairs, photo-chromatic rear view mirror, USB plug not hidden to some idiotic place, LOOKS, and 7 years of guarantee. When will a VW take 7 years responsibility for their cars?? These you gotta consider, not acceleration and things like that. The 1.7 CRDi has 325 Nm that is what you need for economic driving.

This 1.7 Diesel engine in the early optimas also the Hyundai, occasionally had a head bolt design fault which sometimes caused cracks in the cylinder liners. I have a 2013 optima which after 35k miles started to use water, to the tune of a pint every 100 miles. Took it to Kia garage . Result after several weeks of water dye checks , proved the engine was leaking water internally. Took 6 months to get a new engin fitted but all done under warranty. Was advised that Kia redesigned the head bolt system and put an engine on test to prove the system. My new engine was fitted in Dec 2014. Hope this helps.
