Oil weight for 07 Sportage wit 2.0L I4 engine?

I don't have a KIA, but a good friend of mine just bought an 07 Sportage with the 2.0L I4 engine. Since he knows nothing about mechanical things, I will be "helping" him maintain his new vehicle. The first thing I am going to do is change it over to synthetic oil after it hits 1000 miles, and installing a Fram Suredrain (if anyone knows what size fits that would be very helpful) to make my life easier. From what I can tell, the manual doesn't specify an oil viscosity - 10w-30, 5w-30, and 5w-20 all seem to fit the bill. I was wondering what the consensus is for the correct weight. Also, if any of you use synthetic, I'd love to know what you recommend! My inital thought was Mobil 1 5w-20 with a Pure One filter. Also, the Sportage will be driven in Kentucky and will see both temperature extremes. Thanks for any help!

I drive mine (Sportage 2005, 4 cyl) in Québec Canada and I use Castrol synthetic. The viscosity use is 5 w 30, since the first time, as the garage said it to me.
