I just bought a new 2008 4 cylinder Rondo with 157 miles on it. I test drove it and it was fine. After I paid for it, I started the car to leave. As I adjusted the mirrors, radio, and all, I noticed all the lights were on, on the dash. So I thought maybe I did not start the car. I started it again. It started fine, but when I went to go, it stalled. Then I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. So, I started it again and proceeded around the showroom to the exit. It stalled again. I went right back into the dealership and told them. The manager came out and it happened to him also. They kept the car and gave me another brand new car to take. The manager thought that the guy that cleaned the car up cleaned the engine too much, and water got somewhere it shouldn't have. This was late Friday night. Saturday they said they drove the car to the service place, about a mile away, and it was fine, but there wasn't a tech. to look at it until Monday. I called Monday. They tell me that they found the problem to be a near dead battery. It seems the last person to test drive it (ME), must have left a light on or something (which I didn't). So, if that was true it had to have drained the battery in the 2 hours that I was filling out my paperwork. Highly unlikely. They told me they would do a full diagnostic also, and that would take time. Wednesday they told me the diagnostic showed that it was a faulty fuel pump. The part wouldn't come in until next Monday, so I should be able to pick up my brand new car next Tuesday. Wednesday night I researched on the internet and couldn't find any recalls on the Rondo, but then I put in "Rondo and fuel pump", and came up with many articles about the Rondo 4 cylinder being recalled for a faulty fuel pump.
Now to my questions...... are they fixing the fuel pump because they knew that it was a recall, and just telling me that was the problem?
How likely is the battery story?
If I did my homework I would have noticed this, but the reason I got the 4 cylinder was to save on gas, but now I know that they both get the same gas mileage. Why is that?
Since I have been driving around this other Rondo, which is a 6 cylinder, I think I would like it better. I don't like any of the other Rondos on their lot, but I want the Rondo. Can I make them get me another car from another dealer that meets my needs? I don't know if I trust the one I bought.
I need help!!! Thanks for reading!!!!!
