What's that empty space next to gear box? Looks terrible. They shoul have put there lid.
I presume you mean this space under the A/C controls. From the look of it, this is where your iPod, 12v power output, cigarette lighter, and USB connection are, so it has to be open. I can't quite make out what the 2 switches at the front are for.

Many thanks to d3matt for the 'heads-up' on the new photo's. I've gone off the Optima now; too big for my needs and too expensive, so it looks like a new cee'd 3 auto hatchback in the autumn, after I've seen what the new SW is like. My facelift will be 3 years old in November, so if I exchange in Sep/Oct I'll save ÂŁ200 on servicing :)

Heated seat switches.

I like that pocket - much better than on the current model as my phone slides out the side into the floor well.

Regarding the quoted mpg figures, seems the auto's emissions are 45% up on the manual's (145g/100km vs 100g) which would figure it's burning & blowing out more juice. That really doesn't sound right though, surely something wrong with the figures!

Bodywork & Interior looks wise, I'm still a big fan. Obviously that's the top model's interior, but should transfer neatly into the lower models.
Am also a fan of the big front/centre pocket for same reasons as Matt.

A couple of quotes from an early review on conceptcarz.com in which the word 'sporty' is used more than once.

"Kia unveils sporty and sophisticated new cee'd"
The new cee'd is longer, wider and lower than its predecessor, with the same long wheelbase. The elegant simplicity of its coupe-like proportions is emphasised by a steeply raked A-pillar, a very low belt-line in the front and lengthened side windows."

"The new Kia cee'd combines styling typically found on a sporty coupe wîth the space and functionality of a five-door hatch."

In the attached photo I have compared the Pro-cee'd profile with the new cee'd hatchback in profile.

If you think that the Pro-ceed looks sporty, then I think the new car certainly does.

Thanks to Matt for the explanation of the switches.......and, oh no !!! where's the handbrake???

You can see the handbrake switch just behind the gear lever. Obviously gone for an electric handbrake now. I had that on my LR3 and RRS.
I never use my handbrake on the Ceed anyway.

The front screen slope is very like the some of the modern Peugeots.

Right but it's not symetrical, and there is a strange whole on the left top.

Some interesting details on the new car..

External mirrors have very slim led indicators
Front bumper has parking sensors and pop-out headlamp washers

I've also included a better quality pic of the storage bin. I can't see why this isn't symetrical!

Also..

Interior rear view mirror has map lights and possibly mood lighting or centre console lighting. And an electronic dimming.

There's a voice activation button on the steering wheel above the phone buttons. And look at all the info on the speedo. Looks very nice.

Electric folding mirrors switch. And is that bottom right button a lane assist switch? And I'm not sure what the one above it is.

Yes, a lane assist switch and the button above it looks like a 'steering choice' selection. My ill-fated C-Max had that.

There is no reason for the cubby hole to be symetrical. It's called design. The air vents, cowl over the dials etc are assymetric. It's not symetrical in the Optima either.

The rear view mirror will also incorporate the colour zone display from the rear view camera, as in the Optima.

Full details here.

More official pictures of the new cee'd hatchback on the Kia.co.uk website.

A full frontal and a rear three-quarter from the nearside. Looks good.

I registered my interest as requested, but I did that with the Optima and heard absolutely nothing from Kia (and still haven't) :-(

Me too and never heard anything. You would have thought as I have two Kia's, I would a prime target for an upgrade.

Nice pic...
