Hi Guys,

Im wondering if any / all of the cee'ds use "Double Locking"?

its a feature on the focus where if you press to lock the car once, the car locks, if you double lock the car, you cant get in or out, from the inside or the outside! A useful feature, as if I see someone jump into my car, I would love to double lock it and leave the sod's trapped in the car until the police arrive!

It would be a feature that I would be sad to lose if I was to buy the cee'd but it wouldnt be a complete turn off!

The Ceed does not have deadlocks like the focus however it auto locks all doors on moving off and the doors can be locked and unlocked (if the car is not moving) with a button on the dash. Locking the doors with the key or remotely also sets the alarm. The doors also unlock when the key is removed from the steering lock or by using the interior door handle.

It takes a while to remember to unlock the doors with the dash button when stopping to pick up a passenger.

Unfortunately not, the scavengers that live around my area are just that, and unfortunately break ins and attempted thefts and I would just love to see the look on there faces if they ever had to wait there until the police arrive! lol

Only reason I say this is I know a friend of mine actually did this and it was hilarious! cant really try to claim you werent stealing from the car, whilst your sat in the damn thing with the damage around you... I think the reason it happened was he had a change of keys, and the chip hadnt coded to the engine. robber stole the spare (not working key) and got let into the car, but then tried to start the engine and wondered why it wouldnt go, my mate heard the letterbox, looked out the window and saw him jump in... Deadlocked the sod in there and that was that!

I am missing something here. I do not know what kind of thieves you have there, but the last thing I would want to do is lock him in the car. Perhaps your robbers are university scholars in tweed jackets with great Victorian-like manners. Those over here would break out, if not cut up interiors of the car with a knife, break front windshield using his legs and/or side windows, get out, demolish the car, and beat/shoot you, if they realized you caused this "inconvenience".

I am 5 ft 11 and weigh 250 lbs, frequent the gym regularly, but the older I am, the more I prefer insurance companies to deal with them. That is why I have full theft coverage. Let them steal whatever they want.

p.s. Ceed has door handle that can be open from inside on the trunk/boot door, it probably works regardless of the central locking.

But axy because our thieves are very much the same as yours they will not have read the manual to know that there is an emergency escape route out through the back seats.

Most of the Cee'd owners will not have read that part of the owners manual and if they did like me, they wont remember.

One other little feature that is quite good is that if you have used the remote to unlock the doors and then change your mind for some reason and walk off, the car will re-lock itself and re-set the alarm after 30 seconds or so.

Agreed, forget the boot-handle part. I still think your average locked-in junkie would go for a windshield. If you ever tried you'd know: it takes two kicks to throw out the windshield from inside with both legs.

axy I agree with you. Do you have TV programs that show security camera pictures as an entertainment program?

One very famous one is of a bank robber who having gone into a bank and up to the counter with an apparent disguised gun he demanded money. This caused the alarms and security barriers to drop down.

Realising he was probably not going to get any money, he tried to leave the way he came in, but despite his very best efforts he could not open the door to get out. When he was at the point of almost total exhaustion he gave up, and then someone just walked in through the same door and he realised that he had been trying to open it the wrong way.

At that moment the police arrived and just gave up almost willingly.

Just checked mine. I sat inside and locked it with the key. Couldn't get out. So what is the point where some manufacturers require two presses of the button?

I have also just discovered the feature where if you unlock it but don't open the door it locks itself again. Apparently it has an alarm and auto locking after moving off too...
...fascinating.

Can I ask about the car locking then your driving, my 2009 Pro Ceed doesn't do this, is there something I need to set for this to work? I had this feature on my vRS Octavia & really liked it.
Thanks Paul.
"When the speed of the vehicle keeps above 40km/h for 1 second, it will automatically lock all doors. For deactivation of this feature, contact an authorised Kia dealer"

Well, that's quoting from the manual. Can't say I notice anything clunk over.

Well I certainly didnt expect the thread to pipe up this much :p. All very useful info

Ace Demon,

I asked myself that very same question "So what is the point where some manufacturers require two presses of the button?". I suppose the answer lies within another question... Would you want to lock your child in the car to pop to the cashpoint, deadlock it with one click, and find in the event of a truck wiping out your front end, and all electrics, that your doors are in fact deadlocked with your child inside?

Personally I wouldnt want to, so I can see some of the use, I would prefer to be given the option to single lock it, and know that I could smash a window, reach inside, open the door and let my child out safely...
