Locking doors while engine is running?

Is it possible to lock the doors with the remote while the engine is running?

I pulled up to a convenience store yesterday and planned to leave the engine running while I ran in. I got out, and the SXP-X started a long warning beep....I tried to lock the doors with my remote, and they wouldn't lock.

I just spent the better part of 20 minutes looking though all the 21+ Sorento posts, and didn't find anything pertinent to my question. It's quite possible that I overlooked something, though ;)

Thanks in advance!

You can’t lock them while it is running without the key being in the vehicle. If you’re just trying to keep it warm: turn it off, get out, then use the remote start either from your key fob or phone.
Right, I'm on board with that.

In all of my previous vehicles, I could lock the vehicle while it was still running (not related to remote start). I just found it odd that I couldn't do it with this one.

Thanks for your input (y)

as far as I know.....
You need a Remote Start to run your engine and keep the doors locked.

Here in WV, we've already had several nights (and even a few days) of less than 30°, so I have used the remote start feature a good bit, and you're right, it stays locked.

I was merely looking for the convenience of being able to lock the doors on a cold & blustery day with the engine running while I ran in to pay for gas or go pick up a meal order, etc.

I realize there are areas it wouldn't be prudent to do this (here included) due to high rates of crime and such, and I would assume we are all cognizant of those areas in within our own locales.

However, when it's blue cold outside and you've got a couple kids in the back, and you need to stop and grab a gallon of milk, it would be really nice to keep the kids warm and the vehicle secure without having to leave your key inside (which is not very smart, either).

I know it seems petty......but I really liked having that option.
