Leather care

I have the 2018 SX and have a few questions on the leather and the care:

The seats are leather, but what about the dash, doors and arm rests? Are those leather as well?

What products do you use to clean and condition the leather?

Thanks for any help.

Keep in mind, modern leather car seat material is permanently sealed from the factory, so a specific leather care product is not required, a mild cleaner such as a damp rag with mild detergent/water mix in it is more than sufficient to clean the seats.

You can believe that if you wish but I don't. I use Griot's 3-Way Leather Care. On the SX you have a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a leather shift knob in addition to the body-contact areas of the seating. It doesn't hurt anything to use the Leather Care on the vinyl portions of the seats. For the dash, I like to use low-sheen products that clean and have UV protection. Products that have a shine affect your vision in bright sunlight by reflecting the dash on the windshield.

The point I was making, the leather today, is not open like the older stuff where you needed a meticulous regiment of care to maintain it. It won't hurt it to apply a leather care product, but it really isn't needed constantly.

The quality of the leather in these modern cars is actually very poor, and without the sealants used in their manufacture, they would last even a shorter amount of time than they do. They are thin and weak. Friction and wear combined with a hot environment will erode them regardless of how much stuff you slather on them over a period of time.
