hello! it's my first time to post here.
we own a 99 model besta. it's been reliable until lately when we started having problem with its transmission. when we back up, the reverse releases. we've gone to several repair shops and they couldn't fix it. a friend who owns the same model said that he experiences the same thing. help!

hi! im a new registrant, first time to post.
my view about kia besta van, is that it's a disappointment. (no offense meant to anybody.) most probably because we bought it second hand, and it's a 96 model.
since we had it, about five years ago, we've experienced a whole lot of breakdowns. The aircon was gone after two years, then we had the belt fan replaced at least four times in a month, until it worked, etc., etc. Now we had to replace some shaft and the front windshield (you don't want to know why).
Can you guys give advice or recommend a good and reliable technician. Also, please give suggestions on where i can find a replacement for the broken front windshield.
Thanks a bunch! Mornin!

I own a KIA BESTA since 1995 and it's been working perfectly well. I still get 15KM per ltr on regular city driving. It's roomy, fast and powerful. I guess the secret is on proper preventive maintenance. :D

oh by the way, if you have overheating problems, it's probably because you have the original radiator built for KOREA's weather condition. For Philippine use, you have to replace your radiator with the bigger once, 3 or 4 rows to suit Philippine hot weather conditions.

hello everyone! im new here. na-solve ko na recently ang overheat problem ko with my kia besta, except this one, lagi syang nagkukulang ng tubig. any idea out there? tulungan tayo mga tol.....
try checking your water pump. it could have a leak. the shaft seal is always the culprit! it usually leaks when the engine is hot and water pressure is high. :(

I had a broken windshield, tinamaan ng kidlat during a thunderstorm! Freak accident. Anyway, I bought my windshield in Banaue, it was P2,500.00! I don't know the price now because it was last year when the freak accident happened. :)

:) [ I am a new entrant. Is anybody out there have advise on a transmission having loose stick while engaging the gears. I own a 1996 besta van 2.2 model. Just recently changed the aircon compressor and find everything okay except for the transmission problem which is manageable.
By loose stick, do you mean excessive play of the shifting lever (stick) when on neutral? If that is the case, it is just a worn out fulcrum bushing. Just have it replaced and your problem is gone.

hello its my first time to post, i read about some problems with overheating i have a 95 2.7 besta although i was not the original owner i got it sometime 97 with about 34kms on it, and so far it reads now 150kms, and although i had problems with the aircon and alternator already parts are relatively cheap from my friend so i am still holding it until i find a pregio maybe. Regarding the over heating problem i also had that same problem and according to my friend if you notice you have an aircon condenser before your radiator at a perpendicular position. One thing to check is is it blowing air down , or up if it is blowing up then when you have the aircon on you are heating up the air before it reaches the radiator, so imagine hot air for the radiator to cool down the water, not that good , best is to have the air blowing down on the air con condeser down the vehicle, minor problem is air starvation for the radiator but if you have your radiator flushed real good and with a good coolant then i think you should be okay, if this still does not work then i guess you can try the brute force of replaceing the radiator with a added row. That i have not done yet so far. Also regarding the air con blower if you have the blower blowing up according to a friend if you do happen to pass a flooded area you have the danger of blowing up and the water sucked in by the radiator which some say is not good specially if the engine is hot imagine a hot engine block getting a immediate cool shower .

Now to my problems maybe some of you know where i can have my axle fix some mechanics tell me my drive shaft rotation has a relatively large play, they same i have problems inside my axle , the differential gears they say any one know of someone who can and really know how to fix this and not just some couragoeous mechanic who will say thats easy.

Next i have a alternator with vacuum pump but i dont have the screw that connects to the back that has a hollowed center and hole for the oil to flow to a pipe which is connected to the engine again .

My Kia Besta behaves almost perfectly. I also had experienced an overheat problem but was fixed after the radiator was thoroughly cleaned. It proved its durability especially in long distance travel like from Cavite to Mindanao and vice-versa without any problem. It was able to survive the Tacloban-Calbayog (Philippines' roughest) hi-way. You bet!
It had 145km in the log when I bought it 2 years ago. Now it is at 177km.

My need for this 'beast' is a source for genuine KIA parts. I replaced the front suspension bushings last february and it had worn out right after my Mindanao trek last month.

Can somebody here give us information where to buy and what brand are best for the Kia besta 2.7? I had been using 555 brands for the tire-rod ends and rack-ends. How about the suspension bushings?

More power to the people who are holding on to their Besta!
