How rare is my 2016 Rondo in Canada (6M)?

My 2016 Rondo LX is very unusual for Canada as it has the base 6 speed manual gearbox. I have only ever seen a couple of other 6M Rondos, almost all are automatics. I wonder just how big of a unicorn my Rondo is. Does anyone have a source for sales figures for the 2014-2017 Rondo in Canada, showing the percentage that were equipped with the 6M gearbox?

I'm not sure what the canadian equivalents are, but in the US we have cargurus and autotrader to find cars. You can set the search radius to "nationwide" and then filter by model years and transmission types. This will give some good statistical data if you want to determine the rarity of a particular model/powertrain combination. Sales figures can be found online but they will not specify the sales per powertrain type. Also keep in mind that MT owners tend to keep their cars longer, so the percentage you will see listed on the market are typically less than the actual ownership rate.
In any case, good luck!

As suggested by the other reply - searching auto trader ca for 2014 - 2017 Rondo ; nation-wide Canada ; returns 93 total ; 11 manual < or unknown > transmission. Whether this is typical or not - is anyone's guess - but I would say 10 % is high - 5 % perhaps ? ... my guess.

Thanks, I suspect it is less than 5%. I often find that people list cars as having manual transmissions, only to find that they are in fact automatics (never the other way round). I have owned my Rondo for six years, and I have only ever seen max three others with the 6M transmission.

Agree. Be aware - my well-cared-for, gently driven, 2015 gave me 8 very good years, 170 k km, then suffered dreaded engine failure and the local Kia dealer where I bought the car brand new would not honour the 10 year 200 k engine failure warranty . . . I know 2 people with the same engine in their Hyundai who got new engines. This treatment turned a possible "Kia lifer" into a never-more . .

I received the recall notice from Kia for the engine failure problem earlier this year, so fingers crossed. I'm at 85000 km and so far repairs have just been normal wear and tear items like brakes. The only exception was body work on the hatch and rear bumper after someone backed their pickup out of a parking space without looking and hit the rear of my car with their running board.
