Heater Controls Removal?

Greetings peeps, I'm sorting out my missus's delightful Kia Picanto 1.0 and am a bit stuck. It was broken into and a new radio surround/heater control panel fitted. It would seem that it's not been connected properly as the controls don't rotate properly and it only blows air from the windscreen vent no matter what position it's on. I need to look at it further but am not sure how to get this panel off (the one surrounding the heater controls). Before I start pulling the whole dash apart and potentially damaging it, does anyone know how to get this bit off?
I've searched all through this forum but can't find anything and can't find an owners manual either

any help much appreciated

Ben,

I don't visit this forum as often as I should, so I've only just noticed your post.

I actually need to do the same thing because of a blown bulb. There' a service manual here , which may help. I've not had a chance to look at it yet.

If you manage to remove it, please let us know how you did it.

I havn't seen a Picanto [ we don't get them in AUS] but in a lot of KIAs the facia around the radio and ventilation controls comes out as one unit and the vent controls are fastened from the rear to the fascia. For instance on my Cerato the fascia is held by clips in the corners, you have to carefully pry the fascia forward [ very carefully] and once removed you can undo the vent controls from the rear, the Picanto may be the same. Wasn't it great when things were held together by screws.
