I installed so aftermarket HID headlight bulbs in my 2016 Sorrento, the lighting is great but I am afraid I might be irritating the oncoming traffic, it is not so obvious how to adjust the headlight downward. Is there some special tool made to turn the adjuster ?

There is an adjustment screw for both headlights. I too have HIDs and I love them. Clockwise lowers the beam and Counterclockwise raises them. You can find measuring specifics online. Something like 20 feet away from a wall on a level surface the cutoff needs to be something related to the distance from the floor to the middle of the headlight.

thanks, I successfully made the adjustment last night, the tool required is a Torx T-60 bit.
I took the long way on my vehicle because my wife did not like the color combination offered on the SXL models (she wanted red with the grey interior) so I ordered a loaded SX and then added interior lite kit (mine actually works now with all the colors) smart phone remote start, puddle lights, HID lights, lojack. All in all i spent the same 40K but was able to end up with the vehicle I wanted. The only option i was not able to get on my USA supplied vehicle for some reason was the Blue turbo diesel engine.... I have this option on my company car (2016 SXL AWD) in Korea, the mileage is awesome the engine is quiet and smooth and the power is not noticeably different from the 3.3 L I am stuck with here in Texas. If KIA wakes up and offers the Diesel in the USA they will have an instant winner.

Is there only one adjustment screw for each housing assembly, or does each bulb get aimed separately ? I saw a picture in another post, but that was only one adjustment for a side. Mine looks like a gear assembly with a shaft going into the housing. The white inner part of that year housing, is where you used the torx 60? I could turn mine some using a 3/8 extension with a bit if electrical tape around it. It didn't seem to make any changes though so I didn't turn it much and then out it back where it was.
Any help would be appreciated. It seems just my pass side high beam is a bit low. I checked the bulb and its seated correctly.

Headlight Adjust

There are faint markings on cowling above head light back part that show the direction to turn the screw. Those screws are hard to turn without messing them up and you can also use a 3/8" ratchet on the back side. Here's some directions the dealer printed for me. And a pic showing my screen. Mine are too high here. Should be 2" lower or so.

Recently the iihs added headlight testing and the Sorento scored poorly. In fact, the HID low beam headlights are worse than the standard low beam headlights.

Vehicle details

I don't understand how the HIDs could be so bad unless they were pointed too low and needed the adjustment mentioned in this thread.

For those that adjusted their headlights, are you guys happy with the result?

i found it odd that the Hyundai Santa Fe MY17 had excellent results "Top Safety Pick". admittedly i looked at the 2016 version of which only the then top trim (Limited) had HIDs in Canada (with $1,500 higher MSRP). that is still the case in MY17 (except Hyundai top trim is the Ultimate) at least from teh pictures in the brochure (these have adaptive cornering which the MY17 Sorento does as well)
