Hi, first time poster here but I have been browsing this forum since we purchased our 2012 Sorento in February. We've put a little over 4500 miles on it and it will be due for its first oil change in August or in 3000 miles.
Earlier this week i noticed 2 spots on my garage floor about the size of a half dollar. I jacked up the Sorento to take a look and see 2 droplets of motor oil on the water pump housing. (Pics below) Took it to the dealer for them to check it out. They confirmed that there was motor oil around the water pump but could not find a place where it was leaking. The service writer said they torqued down everything to make sure it was within spec and put some dye in the oil. I will drive the vehicle for about 1000 miles and then they will see if they can determine where it is leaking from.
I've read about the pan gasket leaking but what else could be leaking oil on the upper portion of the motor? The service writer said it was possible there was oil that was spilled at the factory and it was leaking but he didn't feel that was likely. Just looking for input, thanks!
