Thank you FroMagnus for the wiring diagram. I am planning on replacing the door speakers with a set of older Infinity reference 612i series splits in front and full range 610cs in the rear doors, but I want to keep the original wiring.
Second phase I want to upgrade the amp with a Audison srx4 amp and upgrade the sub.
My question is, can I utilise the existing wiring harness to and from the existing amp when installing the Audison amp (it has hi level inputs). I will obviously replace the power and grounding cables and upgrade the sub cables but will the existing cables to the door speakers be sufficient ?
Would buying 2 ohm speakers work better with the standard wiring ?
Sorry for all the questions but I would rather ask than waste money unnecessarily.
Stock wiring should not be an issue for up to 50w RMS. I cannot personally guarantee anything higher than that, but that is what my amp puts out per channel, and I have no issues whatsoever.

When I installed the amp, left the wires running from the head unit to the amp alone, and spliced into the wires leading from the amp to the speakers. I added a connection from the factory amp side, ran it to the aftermarket amp, and from the aftermarket amp, ran that wiring to the factory wires that lead to the the speakers. Again, depending what amp you use, you may have issues with crossover frequencies, which is why I used a summing line out converter.

Thank you for the feedback Highbeam.
The only concern I have is that the rear speakers are not running the full spectrum of sound and I was thinking that the amp is filtering (and lowering) the sound and not the head unit. Thats why I was looking at removing the stock amp and placing the new amp in its place and using the wiring (excl sub and power).
I will be tackling this in two weeks time and will give my feedback then.
Thank you again for the info.

Hello,

I need some help with figuring out how to wire my 2012 Kia Sportage for an Amp and Sub... I have wired a few systems in my day, but nothing on this new of a vehicle. I want to keep the stock radio, and tap into the speakers with the Amplifier Adapter to supply RCA cables to the amp. My question is how? Do i try to tear into the dash and tap into it from behind the radio, or remove the door panels and do it there? I was told to just tap into it from the Amplifier that is already installed from the factory in the rear, but mine does not have that. I don't want to break anything tearing it apart. Can someone suggest where i tap into for my adapter? How do i remove the door panels safely ??

Thank you very much

Hi Ethan9987,
If you have the standard audio system (no sub or amp) then your best bet is to tap in behind the radio. These should be the wire colors for your 2012:

Battery RED
Accessory BROWN
Ground BLACK
Illumination RED/ORANGE
Dimmer BLUE/ORANGE
Power Antenna GREEN
LF Speaker (+) BROWN
LF Speaker (-) WHITE
RF Speaker (+) RED
RF Speaker (-) BLUE
LR Speaker (+) YELLOW
LR Speaker (-) BLACK
RR Speaker (+) GREEN
RR Speaker (-) ORANGE

Also here's instructions to remove the radio: http://metraonline.com/files/products/INST99-7344_web.pdf

Best of luck!

Thank you everyone for your help! I've now decided after a few months to break down and purchase a pioneer touch screen DVD player for the sportage. I also purchased a axxess steering wheel control interface to wire upto the stock buttons on the steering wheel. Has anyone had much experience wiring one of this in? I read the instructions online and one of the wires in my stock harness that they suggest to use, does not exist in my harness. It's pin #17 . And mine is blank. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you all!

Master Highbeamz...got a question for you.... I have a S/O powered subwoofer that I want to install on my 2012 sportage SX( with navi and factory subw). Is there anyway to install it by tapping on the sub factory wires?

I would think it should work. I can't tell exactly since the pictures don't show, but I don't know if that subwoofer you're adding has line level (speaker wire) inputs or low level (RCA) inputs. If it only has RCA, you will need a basic line out converter like this one:

Scosche LOC80 2-channel line output converter at Crutchfield.com

You'd need to T-Tap the wires leading to the subwoofer coming OUT of the amplifier, attach the splice to the line out converter, then run RCA's to the new sub. The new sub will likely need a power wire run to the battery, and a ground. Hopefully the remote turn on function operates by reading power through the RCA's...but no guarantee.

It's an option but depends on the exact setup of that new sub.

Nice Job. I did something similar to my car several years ago. Kept the stock HU, added a PAC hi/low converter, Clarion EQ, 2 amps and subwoofer in a ported box. I got the car almost 5 years ago, getting the radio dash kit and steering wheel control interface back then was difficult, specially were I live. so went with that setup.

Hopefully I'll be adding an aftermarket HU to improve sound quality. got the dash kit and pac interface already.

Can anyone tell me if these speakers will fit? Its mostly the depth I'm worried about.

I want to get the 3 ways if they'll fit, but I would settle for the 2 way if not i guess.

BTW i have a sportage 2007, but I'm pretty sure the door panels are pretty much the same specs.

I just saw this old post and had a quick question. I bought the OEM plastic sub box with speaker off ebay recently. I have a 2013 Sportage LX with UVO and no nav or amp. What do I need to mount the sub in your location? Stock nuts or bolts?
