Engine diagram showing throttle body? 2000 Sportage

Can someone point me to an engine diagram showing the where the throttle body is? My husband and I are mechanically challeged, and I can't find a picture to help us locate it at kiatechinfo.com...

Here's the deal. A few weeks ago, the Kia started having acceleration problems going up hill. As of a few days ago, it no longer accelerates at all - lol. It was pretty instant - he was driving it at the time and suddenly the pressing on the accelerator did nothing but sort of bog the engine down.

It starts fine, it idles fine, but if you give it gas, it just bogs down - doesn't kill the engine, but doesn't *do* anything either.

We put in some gas treatment and replaced the fuel filter and it didn't help.

Stuff I'm reading on this site and others points to the TPS. A day after this happened, my husband noticed something that seemed to be a sensor was disconnected. So he reconnected it, and it didn't help. I'm wondering if it was the TPS, and if it was, if it were damaged when it was disconnected, or just doesn't have a good connection right now because there's oil or something on it.

So I need to find the darn thing! lol - can anyone help? Point me to a photo or diagram? It's a 2000 Kia Sportage with a manual transmission.

Thanks for any guidance,

Julie

The catalytic converter seems to be fine.

As I said, I can't find the location in www.kiatechinfo.com - I've spent a lot of time on that site in the year and half we've had the Kia, so I know how to navigate it pretty well.

It shows a great little drawing of the throttle body, but doesn't have a drawing of it on the engine, and there is no scale on the drawing, so the drawing is not helping. Could you tell me where on the site it shows where it is on the engine?

Don:

I'll get a friend to check the timing belt for me. (He's a great mechanic for our other vehicles, but the Kia just confuses him for some reason.)

And, yes, possibly the MAF which I *also* don't know how to find. Same thing - I think that kiatechinfo.com is a great site with lots of good information, but it doesn't say where the part is on the engine, and doesn't have a scale on the drawing and I can't seem to locate "a key" that tells me what is what. (The printed manual we have is even worse - it's made for a range of vehicles, not just Kias)

I wasn't kidding about "mechanically challenged". I have a multi-tester, so I can test the voltage on the MAF, and voltage/ohms on the TPS if I can just find the damn things, but I don't know what I'm looking at, especially with a KIA where I had a heckuva time even finding the spark plugs - lol.

The nearest Kia shop from where we live is a 100 mile tow away (LOL - the nearest Walmart or McDonalds from where we live is almost 80 miles away). It's just not an option right now.

If I can figure out what the problem is, I can order the parts, print out the installation info from kiatechinfo and have my mechanic friend do it. So if someone knows where on the KiaTechInfo site I can find the diagram that shows me where I can find C144 and C129 connectors, that'd help a lot.

Thanks,

Julie
