O.k,
As mentioned, this is probably a dumb question. I looked all through the manual and could not find out what it is for.
I'm refering to the slot below the radio next to the hazard button.
(looks like a credit card slot)

Are parking stubs a real problem that they needed to invent that??????
Why not an mp3 holder or cell phone holder???
That seems more needed now a days.............
Anyway, thanks for the quick reply.

LOL! I asked my dealer as well before I left the lot. My sales person did not know. The people in the showroom did not know. It took the dealership sales manager to figure out what it was actually created for. It was in some brochure in the glove box. They were poking and prodding random cards into it to see how deep it went. I must say it was mildly amusing looking back, however at the time I was thinking what did I just get myself into if the dealer doesn't know what something this simple was made for.

it's clearly stated in the owner's manual.

so that's 6 people that can't read? ;-)
I skimmed through it and stopped anywhere it was pictured or where the dash was referenced. I was not about to read the whole manual.:)

Actually, I think that little slot in the drivers visor is for your license. However, I always keep my license in my wallet so I never bothered to pay attention to what it REALLY is in the manual.

that isn't really what this topic is about... But yes i suppose you could put your license in that slot, or a business card, or photo.....

ive concluded it is the microphone for bluetooth, i say that only because while making a phone call using my cars bluetooth, i decided to find the mic. i simply told the person on the other end of the phone to listen for a tapping noise. and when i tapped that little slot. they said it sounded like someone pounding on a door. having not read the users manual (thoroughly) and not seeing any other possible location the microphone could be located. im going to make a whild guestimate and say it is the cars microphone. if you have infact read the usermanual and found that it is not then please tell me. and let me know where the microphone is.

I have not been curious enough to look in the manual either, but I would not be surprised this is for cards and stubs for commuters and whatnot. I dont think it is for bluetooth though because I have that slot and my car doesnt have bluetooth.

Stick something (like a parking or Turnpike ticket) into the slot in question. It has fiber 'teeth' or the like to gently hold it secure. My salesman pointed it out on the 'going over the features of the car' when I took it home, and said it was for Turnpike/parking tickets and the like. Nice thoughtful touch! And, it would make a great place for the microphone as pointed out earlier.....but I think the main reason is for the tickets.

It WORKS!!! I finally used mine, put the parking ticket stub in it and when I got to the booth at the exit..... I had to pay for using kia's official holder, but at least the parking was free. My manual said it would work, but didn't warn me about the fees when leaving.

It might make a nice matchbook holder as a fuse for the propane tank in the trunk for all you jihadists out there. Well that should get them banned in next years model.

Heh, I started to use this slot for the card/ticket holding purpose without knowing what it really was. Sadly, I assumed it was a Sirius Satellite card-slot as the old "tv" satellites used cards for access.

I use it for my remote for my stereo..works great, wish it was a little bigger and would fit some sunglasses in it but it works great for a place to keep my remote. I have my bluetooth mic above my head on the visor and that works for me.
