Has anyone had any trouble with their new cars chipping easily? I know this may seem to some as a bit "nit picky", but...I have had 4 rock pecks in my paint already and I've only had my car for 2 months. I don't live on a gravel road nor do I travel any gravel roads. All roads are strictly paved roads. The first 2 were on the drivers side rear door just above the panel trim strip. Those were more like a rock peck and a slight scratch as it passed on by after the peck. Now I have 2 more on my hood & they are both rock pecks.......no scratch there. Never in my life have I had a car that the paint chips so easily. It's quite frustrating. I really love my Optima, but to put out good money then have the paint seem so weak. The first 2 the dealer said they would touch-up out of "good will", but I doubt they will take care of these 2 new ones or any others. I wouldn't think the paint would chip so easily. I'm beginning to doubt the quality of the paint job. I would fix them myself, but I suffer with tremors so that's not even an option & having to pay to have them fixed at this rate is gonna run into some money. Is there possibly anything I can treat my car with to protect the paint?

I had the front of my car wrapped with the 3m clear stuff. It was pricey but well worth it. No rock chips after a year of driving.
I've never heard of "wrapping" a car with anything and what type of price range are you talking about for wrapping? Can you give me more details?
It is a clear film type of stuff. It is like thick clear window tint film for the outside of your car. Many auto dealerships offer it as an option on new cars. They add about $300.00 onto the what they pay the guy who puts it on. Google up 3M and you will probably find it. It is a kit that is precut for your car but not easy to install. Recommend leaveing that to a pro. For $500.00 I got the hood entire nose, headlights, foglights and mirrors. No rockchips in my car man!
the 3m cleal coating works really well on the darker colored cars black blue reds gray just dont put it on the white or red cars youll see the color shift over time as 3m tape gets discolored. portection wise its the tops.
I'm going to have a body shop add the 3m film to my car as well, they said it will cost me about $350.00 to have it put on. I will have to have them do my mirrors as well, they seem to always get hit hard on my previous vehicles. Kia right now is painting some parts of my car cause it appears to be bubblen up a bit in area.
is paint covered under warranty? i have two good sized chips that i think are from the paint bubbles on the molding on the drivers side door and the rear passenger door. if kia wont fix it though i'm fine, i'm thinking of painting them flat black anyway.
YES!!!! I have a 2006.5 Optima and my paint has chipped quite easily and Louisiana bugs eat through the paint almost instantly. I am going to wait and get a paint over on the bumper and hood when i am close to trading it in. I also have noticed that my leather is NOT holding up worth a flip.
