You need to give more information. What sort of smell? There aren't too many fluids that it might be; Engine oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, engine coolant?

Any sign of leakage? Drips on garage floor? Brake reservoir normal level? Coolant level OK? Any warning lights? Has the engine been getting hot? Oil level OK?

8K miles seems a bit early to be changing transmission fluid.

 

yes more details, it could be nothing or something serious, you should be able to narrow it down, particular with the smell. Have you added any types of fluid lately?

 

Did you open the hood and look? I'd wager nothing is wrong.... Just the warmer weather here in CA finally burning off the NEW. Or its the car next to you stinking.
