Good evening,

I have a 2014 Sorento and my tailgate motors don't seem to be working when trying to automatically open and close.
Here's what I have tried:
Checked Fuse - Good
Checked connections - Good
Reconfiguring by pressing both tailgate buttons at the same time until you hear the beep. - I heard the beep.

The only thing I can think of next is to replace the tail gate support cylinders. . .they are however, pricey. $300 each and I need two. So, before spending $600 on new support cylinders I was hoping to lean on anyone's experience here to tell what I may have missed? Or confirmation I have done all I could, and new support cylinders is the way to go.

Below is the link to the part OEM:

Thank you!

The power tailgate is a complex setup of multiple switches, sensors, lock motor, cinch motor, pinch strips and lift motors. Prior to spending $600.00 USD I would invest in paying the dealer to check it out with a GDS tester. Below is what they can see with the GDS..

Thanks Bob. I really appreciate the info. If I buy the GDS tool is this something I can diagnose and fix myself? Or can the dealer just tell me what's wrong and then I go and fix it? I've had bad experiences with dealerships.

No law keeping you from getting a diagnosis from dealership and you doing the job yourself!
But, they may wave the diagnosis costs if you allow them to do the work! Ask first. Good luck!
