Back in early 2017, my mother's 2014 Sorento LX V-6 was the victim of several starving rodents while parked down at the creek at our farm. The rascals chewed thru the main engine wiring harness (and 2 other ancillary harnesses under the hood and firewall) in about 10 places, rendering the vehicle undriveable. State Farm paid for the $7,700 repair, which took 3 weeks.
The KIA mechanic (a top-notch, trustworthy guy!!) gave me the old wiring harnesses in a box and I stuffed them in the garage and forgot about them.
Last year, my mother passed away and we sold the Sorento. Rather than throw away the wiring harnesses, I cut off every sensor and connector with as much lead wire (for easy splicing) as possible. There are probably 25 or 30 connectors in the bag now. Takes up 1/10 of the space as the box.
It turns out KIA does not sell a lot of these connectors separately - rather, you must buy the entire harne$$. Ouch! I already helped out one guy who had a high-pressure fuel pump wire and connector eaten. Sent him the connector and saved him almost $2,000.
* If you are the victim of such critters and find yourself needing a connector from under the hood, contact me and if I have it, I will mail it to you for just the cost of shipping. Make sure you describe where it was located and clear, up-close photos will help ALOT! *
Just trying to help out. BTW - I don't get on this forum as often now, so give me a few days after posting to check. Thanks.
