I know this theta platform is widely used but even this generation has multiple engine names and I cant get info on what makes them different or the same.
Knowing your engine code will really help you narrow your search. The code for all the theta series engines start G4K. The next character will tell you whether it's a series 1 or 2 theta, and whether it has an MPi or GDi fuel system. For example G4KC is a series 1 with MPi, G4KJ series 2 with GDi. I think your car is a bit too early to have a GDi fuel system though. The 5th character in the engine code is the engine's year of manufacture, 7 being 2007, 8 ~ 2008, etc. The final 5 or 6 digits are the engine serial number.

Good luck with the search.

EDIT : Here is a link to the theta engine wikipedia page. That will give you a clue about what models are fitted with the 2.4 version of the engine.

Do you know of a spot on the engine I can verify the variant of it.
The engine number is on the front of the engine below the throttle body, next to the starter motor...

Even in the wiki you liked to it shows the g4kc going into like 10 cars but they may also have 3 others in it. Nothing is clear.
That's exactly why I think you should search using the engine code. It's the only way to be sure your getting the correct version of the engine for your car.
