Hi

Intermittantly the starter will not crank like the immobilisor has kicked in. Starter motor replaced not long ago.

Suspect it might be the "switch" that stops you starting unless you are in P or N as starter cranks if you move the stick between R and P whilst holding the key on Start.

Any idea where this sensor or switch might be? Or what it's officially called just in case I have to explain to my local stealer.

It's called the range selector switch, it sits on top of the transmission.
