Automotive forums in general have kind of fallen by the wayside over the last few years, replaced by social media like Facebook groups ...
Being an online Automotive Clubs' / Forums' member since 1999 and seeing what have happened to the activity / information on the Forums nowadays, and the masses asking repetitive questions on different Facebook Groups; I shall agree completely with the quoted text above, sadly...

Kind Regards.

Thank you guys for your patience and understanding on our forums and community as a whole. As mentioned previously, the KIA brand is still fairly new but as a community you guys come together and share your experiences and tips which will add value to your knowledge on your car. It's definitely more useful when there is technical support but as said before, the forums are not just about that.

That said, we're always open to more ideas on how the site/forum could be better. Some other sites we own, the communities have grown real close and organize meets to bring all their cars together and have some kind of event together. Not sure if this would interest you guys but I'm just throwing some ideas out there. If anyone is interested in that, start a thread and see how many takers you'll get. If there's things you would like from us admins (maybe some merchandise for these meets: like stickers, tshirts, etc.) then let us know ahead of time to get these requested items to have them ready for your meets.

Any other suggestions on what you'd like to see more of (content, ads, visual appearance/layouts)? Let us know so we can brainstorm and see it through. Thanks guys!

Cheers,
Natalie

I see you also have a Subaru. Not sure if you had it in 1999, but that's around the time I bought my old Outback. The Subaru scene is a perfect example of that happening: a community filled with helpful folks that was slowly taken over and replaced with vaping, flat-billed dudebros talking about "stance."

Merchandise is always fun. I've had stickers from most of the forums I've participated in over the years. I'd be interested.

Yep, I have my Subie since New in 1985 (My Avatar photo), it came running from California (USA) to Honduras (Central America), already surpassed 400K Miles and thanks God it still runs strong; I accessed the Ultimate Subaru Club online since the EZ boards time, around 1999 and I've seen that mere change on web forums, lately:

... The Subaru scene is a perfect example of that happening: a community filled with helpful folks that was slowly taken over and replaced with vaping, flat-billed dudebros talking about "stance." ...
Also, the Facebook groups are becoming something like "Do you know how to fix ..." and people adding web links to the Forums' threads, but no new posts are being added... the discussion continues on Facebook Groups...

Kind Regards.

Worse Forum Ever

You post anything on this forum and you get hundreds of views and almost negligible response. Doesn't anybody ever know their KIA or work on it??

Forums aren't only about pretty photos of your vehicle, they are the number one source of information on your vehicles or any other subject you need help on. You want to fix your washer or dryer or air conditioner or Ford or Chevy you will find really detailed photos and videos anywhere on the internet. If you want to have a car forum it should be done right. I belong to many forums of all types and this one takes the cake for any help on your vehicles. There are some who actually do show a photo of repair help or share an actual video but that is as rare as can be.

I posted this question once before and got a reply from a moderator or equivalent that this isn't that kind of forum and I suggested to add a forum topic under repair help for the vehicles. Any forum that has anything at all to do with a mechanical issue such as a vehicle really needs that added. Special reason for KIA. They just do not make a repair maintenance manual for them like other manufacturers. You end up getting a basic multi-function vehicles like at an auto store which is useless and never specific.

I just have to believe the moderator of this forum or senior members do not understand auto forums need this added repair section. Because I have searched this forum a number of times and the number of responses to questions has to be like 1%. Times read many many but answers look in the wind for them.

The highest percentage of any forums such as this people go to for answers. If you agree how about more members asking for an added repair section. It would highly benefit all members that need this type of help. And just do a search everyone is asking for repair advice.

Well, I can SOMEWHAT agree with you about your feelings. BUT as a much posting member here and on other forums for my 3 other Chrysler products, that many times I get "fed up with" the many calls for detailed repair instructions and do try and respond, only to have people become argumentive or say OH, I'll just take it to a shop or the "DEALER"! Hard to know peoples skill levels that are much needed with today's cars and electronics or even if they have the tools needed to do the job. Many things take much more than the BASIC set of wrenches/sockets and HAMMERS of older times!
We are here to share helpful common maint./repair experience as members are able, BUT NOT to teach auto repair to someone that has ZERO skills than to where the gas goes into the car. MUCH less than to know to check their motor oil level BETWEEN oil changes!
Good luck to you in finding a "perfect website" that fits your wishes!

You're in the right section to seek advice regarding repairs to a "2G (2003-2010) Sportage".

Like most other car enthusiast forums, the support comes from the participation of the members themselves and certain models have a greater following than others, and will of attract more interest.

most of us aren't mechanics, we're just regular people. there might be a few that are mechanics or car-enthusiasts.

There aren't that many Kia forums, this one seems to be the most active. Kia is barely 4% of the auto industry. less than 1/2 of Honda and 1/3 of Toyota.

Tell me about it. I have 2007 Sportage Oil Leak

I have 2007 Sportage Oil Leak and I'm begging for help.

A while back I was having issues replacing the alternator and no one ever answered.

Sigh.

Amazing, you post something and the percentage must be like about 1% you ever get an answer compared to the views. For example I just saw an AC question viewed over 7 or 9,000 times and it got 20 replies. This tells me very few people really know their KIA vehicles. It also is obvious when you read there are very little amount of technical people that support this board.

It is seldom anyone leaves photo(s) of how to do something which is strange. Also, for a forum which is dedicated to specific vehicles. For example, you go to a Dodge Forum and the questions and answers are pretty much detailed with anything you need. Photos are essential in helping somebody figure out or do a maintenance job that somebody ask about. Why is this forum so different. Because there are lousy maintenance and repair books on KIA. So essentially KIA owners need more help. I realize that the dealers want you to bring in your vehicle and not tell you a thing, but nobody on this forum really technically knows KIA Vehicles. There aren't a few decent KIA mechanics on the entire forum? It is obvious by responses and as I mentioned photos for procedures, etc. that there are few technical people in this entire forum of all KIA models.

A forum that just is basically for discussion but no real help really isn't a good forum. This forum really needs a technical part of each vehicle selection in and itself that addresses these issues. It is a shame that people that post here very seldom get real help that they are asking for. I am sure many people feel disappointed when they log in over and over repeatedly and wait for an answer and get none to help them.

A while back you never responded to a post addressed to you in that alternator thread.

The oil leak thread you created today (less than an hour ago) - have you considered that most frequent members (enthusiasts) haven't got home from work yet.

Please update your profile detail, ......at least location and vehicle (year & model).

Click on “User CP” near the top right of the page, then "Edit Your Details" on the left.
