Just had my car washed and as I dried it off, I just noticed that both rear doors have rectangular "patches" about 1in x 2in near the bottom corner of the door that is away from the hinge.

By "patch", I mean that it's basically like a sticker or something like that. These patches are on the exterior of the door, and they are the color of the door (black, in my case). The patches are exactly the same size and in the same location on both rear doors. I hadn't noticed these patches until this weekend, even tho I purchased back in October. Does anyone else have these patches on theirs doors? Does anyone know what purpose they serve?

They are there to protect the paint from rocks, stones, gravel and other road nastyness. Lots of cars have this sort of thing, usually it's not colored though, usually it's clear.
