I think the 1.6 is just like my old 2.4 …..If it’s out of adjustment the only way to get it back in specs is to replace the whole bucket. No shims, no screw and nut adjustment, just replace the whole bucket with a different thickness ☹
I’ve been asking for years if anyone ever checks them. So far no one has said yes. I’m at 132,000 and never did them. I met a guy with 260,000 miles on his 2.4 . He told me he meticulously maintained it. I asked him did he ever check the valves. I got a blank stare. He never even thought about it.
Not that it’s right, but I’ve been told that at the 60,000 mile check up, the dealer just listens to them.
( I’ve done the valve lash on mechanical lifters with every vehicle I’ve owned over many decades. My Kia is the first vehicle I’ve owned with this ridiculous system)
