Well, got in my car yesterday to go back home from work and I noticed my radio did not come on. So nothing was working...bluetooth, rearview camera, etc. It was completely dead. So I drove back home thinking maybe it will reset itself once I turn the car off and back on. Well...that didn't work. So then I thought...I'll see what happens this morning when I start the car...so that still didn't do anything. So my next step is when I get home today is to check the fuse to see if that's okay. I would hate to have to go to the dealer for something as simple as that...so fingers crossed.

Just wanted to see if anyone else had a similar issue with their radio. I did notice a couple of times in the past where it would not come on initially, but eventually it starts going.

No, I didn't try that b/c there is absolutely no power to the system so I didn't think that would do anything.

No radio..no camera..

Got a quick fix- there is a reset pin hole on the front of the radio. Mine was located next to the volume knob. Use a pointy object and hold down the button for 15 seconds. I reset mine while the car was on and it worked fine.

Had the same issue, stopped working three time in two months. Came back by itself. Talked to dealer and they are replacing the whole unit which is on order as of today. It is a manufacturing problem and the dealer admits it as quite a few have reported the same issue. Just wondering that in first year of ownership two major items already have been replaced including the fuel pump, what it will happen once the warranty is over...

Did not work for me, I have a 2012 Kia Soul, no audio, radio goes to factory presets, no Bluetooth, clock resets, I pulled the fuse, and hit the reset button, no luck. Any other suggestions? I do not want to purchase a new radio. It's no longer under warranty, I have 56k.

Radio not working as far as sound

This is so frustrating, car is 2013 kia soul with 60,500 miles. Radio comes on, camera works, blue tooth connects but NOTHING for sound, lost presets and time, have reset radio, pulled fuses to no avail.. I play with old cars and have 40 year old radios that work fine, dealer who sold us car raved about UVO system and how awesome it is.....2 1/2 years later......worthless!!!! We have owned the car for 2 1/2 years now and have raved about car to all that ask about it, probably have sold 5 kia souls at least as a bird dog (person who brings customers to dealer), never did it to get commission or thanks, did it because we loved the vehicle. That is all about to change. Start by saying our fault for not reading the fine print or paper work, but our salesperson did a bang up job of stating the 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty on numerous sales pitches, honestly leading both my wife and myself to believe there was a 10 year warranty bumper to bumper, no, radio is 3 year 36k miles! What? I have a radio that is 2 1/2 years old that won't be repaired/replaced because of mileage? Oh, and the rear window electric motor-not covered-out of warranty, the front end...that is wear parts-not covered, motor, trans and axle only sir. Heart broken in NJ, had a mad crush on this car-my little go-cart, people asked me all the time why I drive this when I have the other "cool" cars and a truck and I told them how awesome this thing is, now...probably gonna buy a dodge dart or look into other cars, KIA is no different than other makes and models, their great 10/100k warranty, average.

Moparmatt - appreciate your frustration, have you talked to KMA to see if they will provide some coverage? Or take it to a audio specialist shop to have it checked.
It's not exactly fine print as the warranty book clearly states what is covered and what is not, which you should have read shortly after getting the vehicle.

Buying most other brands would not be any different as there coverage is most cases is 3 yrs or 36,000 miles - the Dart for example that you mentioned, also their power-train warranty is 5 yrs or 100,000 miles.
You need a warranty that doesn't restrict on mileage due to your extremely high mileage. Mazda Canada has now gone in that direction but not the US.

Maybe join us over on the Soul Forum Kia Soul Forums :: Kia Soul Owners as we have lots of active members in North America and maybe they can offer some suggestions with regards your problems - worth a try.

I am being turned down because of mileage, not age, realized I was in wrong forum-after posting-sorry. As for fine print-I should of asked/read/researched about warranty, my wife and I "feel" we were "cattle shooted"(spl) in way of believing 10 yr/100k warranty was bumper to bumper. Can't repeat exact words of salesperson, however when asked about different things they always stated 10/100k warranty-which is there, just...my fault! I get the mileage checks because of misrepresentation of mpg (my understanding), we will either use that money to keep car afloat or look into getting another car. I like to go to dealer, get service, be on my way. Will either look into something for radio or ??. Just really upset at this time about the situation I created.

If you check into your radio problem a little further you will find out you can get a Factory reman radio for you Soul for just about $100.00. I know you feel you should not have to pay at all. But at least it's a CHEAP fix.......

Where would I get the reman radio from? dealer, auto zone. I'm interested, dealer wanted a min. of $110.00 just to look at car b/c of it being out of warranty. I would go that route in a heartbeat.

I would sell you one through here, but I will need your old radio as a core. It would be easier to do it at your local Kia dealership. It's up to you. If you like, give me the last 8 of your vin# I'll look up your radio, and make sure of the price and give you Kia's part#. You PM me if you want.

This site is for all Kia owners...
This section is for Rio's, but it's radio related.
Your remened Radio has a list price of $85.00. This is the Part# R6160-2K500DS5. If they try to charge you any more than that, ask to see "this" higher price on there parts catalog screen.

Sweet, called dealer parts dept., cost is $83.35, radio has problem-typical he said, he did ask me year and said under warranty-told him mileage, oh shucks! not covered, the radio has a life like dog years, it is a 2 1/2 year old radio! BUT the mileage makes it like 6 years old:eek:
Told him my issue with dealer kinda, maybe misleading me allegedly(my words), he said there is a loop hole with the whole 10/100 warranty words thrown around and that the radio is just 3 yr/36k mile warranty. My love of KIA has taken a hard hit.

Now, when get radio just have to figure out how to get to it:confused:

There are no 'loopholes' in the warranty. Have your read the warranty booklet that came with your vehicle? (I'm assuming you bought it new). Everything is spelled out; what is covered, what isn't, which category the various covered items fall under, and the length of time/mileage of each category, nothing is hidden. Can't really blame KIA for that though I wouldn't have much 'love' for the salesman you describe.

No I did not read my owners manual you receive "AFTER" purchasing the vehicle, salesperson shows us how the radio works and tells us how great the "system" is, of the 6 new cars I have purchased in the past ALL the radios are still working. I've said before it is MY FAULT I did not do my research/confirmation of warranty, but KIA dealerships in general when we were looking at cars all kept saying 10/100 which is there, just no details of 3/36 or 60k mile warranty. If you talk to people "in general" they believe that KIA has a 10/100 bumper to bumper warranty on the SOUL, even other threads people ask "isn't it covered, it only has xmiles no where near the 10year/100k mile warranty. Funny how I receive money for false misrepresentation of mpg, could they have misled the warranty? I did not have camera or recorder nor have I sued for anything in past-just shocked when parts (I've replaced tires, brakes and bulbs, etc..) not looking for a free ride, go bad and Kia dealership says that will be $110.00 to look at your car and take from there because nothing is under warranty-your car did not come in on a rollback :-( What is making me mad is the fact that this is COMMON and I should be happy there is a forum to talk about repairing yourself and the fact that the parts are cheap, really. Yes the cars I play with are 40yr old muscle cars and yes they did not have bluetooth and etc, but they did go from am to am/fm to am/fm 8 track to am/fm cassette etc.. Heck they have a computer on mars that was suppose to last 90 days and it has been up there for 10+ years-KIA can't put a radio in my car that last 6 years!?? And when there is a issue they have 3 yr warranty but the radio has wheels on it and with 60k miles it's not covered, and is rated like dog years.

No I did not read my owners manual you receive "AFTER" purchasing the vehicle,
You missed the point. Did you read it "BEFORE":) you had a problem with the vehicle? In my case, I asked specific questions about the warranty to the point where the salesman brought out literature and showed me the specifics.

Not sure how common the radio problem on a Soul is. People having problems are going to complain especially on a vehicle specific website. What you don't see, for the most part, is praise from those who are not having problems. I wonder if the numbers between those two groups would differ enough to call it 'common". Doubtful. I don't own a Soul but I have a Rio and haven't had any problems whatsoever with it in approximately a year of ownership. My brother in law has a 2012 Soul that has been problem free during his ownership.

As far as the other things you mention; I'm nearly 65 years old and sometimes do lament things not being the way they once were but, what we have is what we have so what good does that really do?
