Any more disconnects since this fix?Update: So I took my car in yesterday morning and was informed that it could take 3-4 business days for them to run diagnostic checks. I got a text message this morning saying my car was ready for pick up.
Issue: USB cable connector was loose.
Here is the full notes from the service department:
Connected phone to car with USB cable and verified that the USB port would intermittently disconnect and illumination at console would turn off indicating USB cable was disconnecting and issue was not with phone cable. Removed center console cubby to inspect and found connection at console secure. Removed cluster / radio display and found connections good. Removed audio module located behind radio display and found that the audio USB cable connector was loose. Secured connector properly and reassembled all components. Test drove after repairs and found that USB no longer disconnects intermittently.
So far I have not had any issues and things are running smoothly. Hopefully this helps the rest of you having the same issues.
Sorry, I just saw this. I haven't had any disconnections since the fix.Any more disconnects since this fix?
Could you share a sanitized copy of your work order? Might be useful in having conversations at other dealerships, e.g. my local advisors are touting firmware update, though bad firmware failure is usually consistent as opposed to degradation over time such as I (and apparently others) have experienced.Sorry, I just saw this. Just tell them to follow the cable from back of the USB port to the other end of the cable, which should be the main "AVN Unit" Make sure the connections are tight, make sure by actually pulling it out and pushing on it until it clicks into place.Could you share a sanitized copy of your work order? Weird. I have the disconnecting issue and it is with a Samsung S20FE.Could also be your phone. I have a 2023 X-Pro Prestige and had a Pixel 6. Tried 3 different cables, then bought a wireless adapter. Still frequently disconnected. I read that it is an issue with the Pixel 6 so I bought a Pixel 7. Same issues. Decided to try one more before taking it to the dealer. Exchanged the 7 for a Samsung S23 Ultra. No issues at all. For me, i believe its the Google Pixel family. Love Android Auto
Good god ... lolI had the same disconnecting problem: 2023 Sportage EX purchased Mar 2022.
1st trip to dealer, in for oil change and mentioned the USB issue, dealer did manual reset and system worked for 1 day.
2nd trip to dealer, 2 hours to diagnose a bad USB port, part ordered.
3rd trip to dealer, 1 hour to tell me they ordered the wrong part.
4th trip to dealer, 3 hours, USB port fixed and is now working, yea!.....but now the lower buttons and indicators on the console don't work. Can't change drive modes, Auto Start and manual rear view camera, Elec parking break, etc ..
5th trip to dealer coming up next week, hoping everything works after this trip.
Think this is phone-agnostic - have multiple Apple and Android devices and they all suffer the same issue. Been down the road with all combos of devices and cables with the same end result - crappy drops. Afraid I have to leave this issue on Kia's doorstep...Weird. I have the disconnecting issue and it is with a Samsung S20FE.
