for USB port to cable to IPhone with CarPlay.
Does your USB PORT/connection ever drop and quickly come back?
Trying to determine if I should take it to the dealer and do surgery or live with it.
Same behavior once in a while when using CarPlay adaptor (adaptor wired connection to car can drop).
This can happen like 0-5 times in a day of driving and sometimes can be really fast where you don’t notice it too much but may need to reconfirm GPS. However if wireless adaptor drops it may not reconnect.
Also adaptor drop has shut off the port until the car shuts off and start but if wired to phone and lose connection it quickly comes right back and connects.
Is this a defect others who use the port are seeing or not at all And you guys don’t have any issues. Phone is up to date.
Also note both devices have different cables so don’t think the cable is the root cause. Also happens (again this once in a while) at random times not seemingly tied to moving anything or bumps.

I was having issues until I de-linked my phone's direct bluetooth connection to the car. I didn't really need it any way, as I can do everything I need it to do - Waze, Music, phone calls - through CarPlay via my WiFi/Bluetooth wireless CarPlay adapter. I believe they may have interfered with each other on occasion?

Thank you does your carplay adaptor ever drop its connection to the car ? (Not your phone to the adaptor). The adaptor to the car/USB? What exact adaptor are you using. Thank you again.

Mine never has. My question is why does the usbc port not work for CarPlay. You would think both ports would. Looks like it’s charging only. Makes sense for a passenger I guess.

Yes, the left side USB-A port is the one that works with media system. All the USB-C's are just for charging.

It would freeze on the initial boot up screen once in a while, but I don't think its done it since I deleted my phone's bluetooth connection in the car setup. I am using a CARLIMEKI adapter:

I’m using carlinkit 2 I hate the lag on the voice hey siri steering wheel button. bugs me enough to almost go back to wired, does your device have much lag?

I'm currently having the same exact issue with my 2023 Kia Sportage HEV SX Prestige. I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro and I've tried at least 10 different USB C cables, from the original cable that came with the phone, to short ones, to long ones - all high quality, not Dollar Store brand and I still lose my connection constantly. As its a brand new car, I can't imagine it's dusty in there at all. I'm going to try the unpairing bluetooth suggestion to see if that helps. I've tried updating the software several times and I keep getting a "corrupted" error, so I'm wondering if the internal USB connection is flaky.

Yes, it is random and infrequent.
I'm probably answering my own question, but is it worth going to the dealership for? My commute is only about 10 minutes each way and so far it's disconnected at least once each day. I've seen other threads where people have the same issue but nothing definitive as the cause of the problem, mostly just trying different cables or settings.

Probably, maybe a firmware update for the radio addresses this? I know there is one out for mine but have not installed it yet.
I'm going to try to update the firmware again this afternoon, every time I've tried to do it, it's failed. I constantly get the "corrupted" error. I bought a new 128GB Sandisk and used the Navigation updater tool and haven't been able to successfully update yet. I believe mine is on the May 2022 release, looking at the firmware name

I finally got the November 22 update to go through, took about 1 hour, just left the car running the whole time. I had previously tried this particular flash drive while driving-no good, as well as using the "Start update when the car is off" selected and that didn't do anything. The drive this morning, AA was working perfectly, and then on a perfectly smooth road it cut out, so I'm thinking taking it to the dealership and having them resolve it is the only option.

Did you end up getting this fixed? What did the dealer do? Mine is doing the same thing... infrequently but definitely doing it.

Mine does it, too. It did it last night for the 3rd time since purchase. I'll try to remember to say something to my service advisor when I drop it off on the 27th.

I have an appointment next Friday, they're unfortunately going to do a diagnostic first and then order the USB port. Unless it's some internal connector that just needs to be reseated, I have to imagine it's the USB port itself. I did reset all the system settings and it happened continually after that so unfortunately I have to believe it's a hardware issue
