Hi All,

New to the forums and loving it already, a ton of useful info around here. I wonder if you guys could help me out, I recently purchased a '08 sportage and want to upgrade the factory fitted stereo. At this point in time I will probably leave the head unit in, I'm just looking for a little boost in the speaker dept. I am keen to hear what some of you guys have done, also has anybody tried putting one of the new generation slim-fit 6.5in subwoofers in the door?

I'm always lugging something around so I don't want to put sub boxes etc in the back or under the seats, just looking at what I can get in the std spots in the doors.

Any help or input would be greatly appreciated!

Later this summer I'll be ripping out the factory speakers which sound horrible. I plan on using the Crutchfield or Onlinecarstereo guides to pick out speakers. If the speakers don't fit right, I'll just have the local custom stereo shop do the install. Let them deal with the metal cutting, shaving, spacing....

Crutchfield says 6.5" should fit. But, when you try to outfit the Sportage, a page of 5.25 speakers show up. I think I'm more worried about diameter then depth at this point. I prefer 6.75" speakers, components for the front doors, and a simple 2-way for the rear doors. I have a few old school Sony amps that will power them. I lean toward BostonAcoustics and PolkAudio.
