Recently my transmission developed a quick slip between the 2-3 up-shift. The slippage had been present for a month or so, and only happened when cold, just one time and then not again. I have 35K miles on my Sorento and only tow periodically. Nothing too heavy, mainly a couple four wheelers. About a ton all together including the trailer.
While having scheduled maintenance performed I had my garage do a drain and fill which amounted to 4 quarts. The Tech advised that the fluid was black, but didn’t smell burnt. There was some build-up on the drain plug, though nothing drastic. When I picked it up at the end of the day (and it was definitely cold), no slip. Same thing this morning after sitting all night.
Now I’m trying to decide whether to have my Kia dealer do a flush, or just repeat the drain and fill method a couple more times. The service rep says there are cleaning agents and conditioners passed through the tranny and 99.6% of the fluid is replaced With fresh. Looking for your your thoughts. Thanks
