Hi fellow Spotage owner.

I'm new here. I got my Sportage sx 4 months ago. Now the milage is 5000km.

I am hearing "ting" sound coming from the lower part of the engine compartment when :

1) turning off the engine.
2) Stopping at traffic ligths.
3)Moving slow in traffic.

The sound is noticeable. It can be heard every time during no.1,2 and 3.

The sound is sort of metal being heat up or metal cooling down.

Exhaust pipe? Heat shield? Somebody help me get rid of this annoying sound.

Hi,

I've of course noticed this too. Here's something odd I noticed: I owned a 2012 EX which I traded in (too underpowered/slow). This thing made MAJOR "ting noises" after I shut it off and it was in the garage. Really loud and would go on for like an hour as the engine/exhaust cooled.

I now own a 2011 SX and it does this but not near as loud or for near as long. I hear maybe a small ting/ping after parking but that's it. Not while driving or when sitting at a traffic light etc. And, again, it's only for a minute or 2 once I switch off the engine after driving for a bit...

Not sure what the difference between the SX and LX/EX in this regard but, it's a noticeable difference. I assume it must be due to the differences in exhaust systems between the LX/EX and SX's. Just a guess but assume that must be why mine is quieter.
