like the title says, i appologize if this is a trending topic. this noise appears at idle, at times disappears, at other times becomes very loud. its a 2009 rio5 1.6 with 69k miles. please gve input, thank u.

Have you done your timing belt yet? If not, may be a great place to start. Along with the rest of the belts.

Another thought, (long shot), how about the spark plugs? They should have been replaced at least once by now.

my 2010 LX sounds like a screw bouncing around under the dashboard when im coming to a stop/idle. i brought it in, under warranty, and they said it was the exhaust heat shield that is by the dash,. it was hitting the firewall. they fixed it but the noise is still there. bringing it in again next week. atleast i got another issue fixed...

i went to the dealer and they said my plastic engine cover was loose, because i changed the plugs i must have not put it back on tight, but after they tightened it the noise actually got worse, im not sure what else they touched.

I have an '06 and at idle you can hear the injector ticks very easily. It's something normal.
