Finally got the deal finalized yesterday on the Borrego-down payment has been wired, title is changed over, and it's on our insurance policy (the car carrier has insurance of course, but just to be safe...), but of course they couldn't get it on the truck then so we have to wait until Monday :mad: I'm a little miffed about it since things were delayed by about two days because the salesman misplaced our paperwork and it was sent two days late. We're still getting a great deal though so I can't complain too much. In the end we paid $20,608 which includes certifying the car, all document fees, sales tax, and the $700 delivery fee to have the car delivered to our house-we offered to pick it up at a shipping terminal thinking we'd save a few bucks but they said they only use door-to-door service. As of right now there are two Borregos for sale within 25 miles of us (Northwestern NJ) which are similarly equipped. One is $20,300 (that's the sticker price-I tried haggling them down but they wouldn't have it)-the only difference between that one and ours is it has leather. Another is $17,500 but its not currently certified and the interior is pretty beat. Also, both had more miles than ours. Anyway, we're just hoping for good weather as the car will be making its way east from Illinois on Monday!

Just bought an LX Borrego off a dealer with 45,000 miles, no leather, V6, and in excellent condition for $13,500 US, plus tax, title & license. Almost bought an identical LX with 40,000 miles and leather but the dealer wouldn't budge from $14,995. Both vehicles condition I would call excellent. Kia Dealer went through the one I bought and has found it to need nothing. Both vehicles were on different Dodge dealer lots for sale. Dealers are listing these vehicles for over $18,000 but nobody seems to know what a Borrego is.

I researched the Borrego to death, and if you have the need to tow a boat or a camper, it appears it is the best used SUV value out there. Plan on towing my boat with it for the next 10 years and I'll probably put less than 10K miles a year on it.

$13,500? I'm guessing they were 2WD? I've never seen them that low but were were only looking at CPOs. We opted for 4WD-ironic as its just starting to snow here ;)

Congrats badfish - 4wd with leather certified, $20k plus a delivery fee sounds like a good deal to me. $17500 was for a 2wd and the dealer had it for a very long time. The more we drive our Borrego, the more I like it. Nothing too fancy, but the perfect combination, of functionality, style and some luxury. I just like how everything is laid out so simply, took it to the car wash this morning getting it looking good again.

Actually ours does not have leather, it has beige cloth. The delivery fee wasn't too bad-$700 dropped off in front of the house. I called around and got quotes myself just to compare and pretty much all of the larger vehicle shippers (DAS, etc...) were all coming in around $600-700. I briefly entertained the thought of flying out and driving it back. A flight from EWR to O'Hare is only about $110-even with $170 in gas and tolls, lunch along the way, and a cab ride to the dealer it would have been cheaper, but it's 12+ hours...
